USA vs. England first round, what say you Russiawithlove? http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/34256756/ns/sports-soccer/
It's about time we got the opportunity to teach you lot how football is played I think our group isn't too bad actually, it's not the easiest but not the hardest. What do you think about it? How is your squad, strong enough to beat the English? I think we are the favourites but you know England, when it comes to big tournaments, everyone and their mother is injured. I'm still boycotting it after Russia didn't qualify though Serbia to win!! The Serbs are our traditional friends, haha.
Hmmm lets see, what happened the last time the US faced England in the first round of the world cup ....... oh that's right, we won a 1-0 victory at the 1950 tournament in Brazil!!! Seriously, I like our chances with this group of players because many of them have international experience, including playing in what is admittedly the best league in the world, the Premier League, our goalkeeper Tim Howard (Everton), midfielder Clint Dempsey (Fulham), defenders Jonathan Spector (West Ham) and Jay DeMerit (Watford) and forward Jozy Altidore (Hull). U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra played for Fulham. Not to mention Donovan has a lot of international experience as well and he is probably our best player. It will be good to see him and Beckham mix it up again after their squabbles this year playing for the Galaxy. Good group draw for the US and England, anything can happen, should be fun to watch!!
I think that if England can't win this group, there's just no hope for us AT ALL. Howard is having an awful season!! I'm very annoyed about this because he's on my fantasy football team, haha.
Haven't followed Everton much this year, looks like they are close to relegation, yikes! Is it Howard or the Toffee's defense that is suspect? According to ESPN Howard is playing well. ESPNSoccernet - "He has done an excellent job for the U.S. since taking over the starting job two years ago. This year, Howard won the first three home qualifiers in the final round, including back-to-back shutouts against Mexico and Trinidad & Tobago. He has played well for Everton in the EPL this season and, last season, set a team record for clean sheets in a season (16)".
Nah, he's been dreadful all season for Everton and it's not just down to defensive errors. They did make a big mistake by selling Lescot to the bitters but that alone hasn't damaged Everton. I don't think that Howard has kept one clean sheet yet so far this season. I do like him though and I personally think that he's just going through a rough patch. It happens to the best of players. For your sake, I hope that this is over in six months time. I personally think it will be England qualifying first, and America second. ....if our stupid bloody squad isn't injured!! We don't exactly have the best luck with injuries!! speaking of... United have EIGHT defenders out right now, how ridiculous is that?!
US who? They will be in the World cup as long as their qualifying group last and then back home to the USA. England will get licked in the next round or maybe reach the semi finals if the manager does not use good players and not media hype players (Beckham etc). Ghana are going to win it so that is that:smt023
If not Brazil, Spain and Argentina has a good chance and Portugal as an outsider. What about Ukraine?
I hope Spain does not win and Argentina has not won the World Cup in more than 30 years. If Ukraine wins it would be a surprise. They would thumb their noses at Russia if that happened.
