Thanks a lot guys! I'm really proud of that room, even though it was fairly simple modeling. I wanted to concentrate on the lighting and textures to emulate a realistic night, indoors scene, and I think I suceeded! It's always so exciting when I achieve what I want with the program, because it used to be so hard for me to do even the most simple of things in 3d. My education is finally paying off with results. lol

Probably be a couple more pieces on here this week, if I get to work some more before I start the new job/ go back to school.

    Can't believe I didn't see this!

That view is actually a shot I took on Thanksgiving 07' from the 42nd floor of a commercial building near the Galleria in Houston. Really spiffy neighborhood, breathtaking view at night. Especially that night, as they were lighting all of the lights for Christmas along the boulevard.

This painting reminds me of the 9 tailed fox, from Naruto, when I first glance at it, because of all the orange.

Yo, that's hella tight, DH. That's cool how you got real pictures in the frame n' shit.

Makes me wanna do graphic design type stuff.

haha, I love how I actually recognize this. I don't know much about Naruto, but I played one of the games Nate had a while back...It was like..Ultimate Ninja...or....something. lol I don't remember, but it was Naruto! Pretty interesting, too. I played through on Story Mode, though Nate and his friends always played on vs. mode cause of the epic fighting or something.

Sadly, the pictures on the wall were the easiest to make.

When doing 3d, pretty much what you do is build things out of basic geometric shapes, using various tools incorporated in the program. I'd explain in depth, but seeing as it took me years to finally understand what the hell my teachers were saying, I don't think I could explain it well enough...so I'll keep it basic.

For the picture frames, all I did was make a very thin box shape. Then a few adjustments to sink the inner rectangular area in to make it look like a frame, and voila! The pictures themselves are just jpegs imported from my computer into the program and placed, with just a few clicks, onto a part of the box shape I made into a frame.

All the stuff in the render is actually very simple. Look at the tables and you see they're all made out of 5 box shapes. Hell, I only made one and then just copied it twice and changed sizes. lol The staircase is an object already built in the program, so I just had to size it (and eventually I might even add safety hand rails), the couch is literally made of one large box...the lamps were extremely simple as it was made out of things we learned in our first modeling class...etc.

What -makes- the picture, though, is the lighting and textures I used. That's what makes 3d imagery look more realistic than any amount of precise modeling can. You can make a scale model of a city, but without the right lights and textures it will just look like blank 3d boxes.

I really liked that one. It's one of the few pieces I've done in 3d just because I wanted to, not for an assignment.

...I also really fucking love working in 3d, as you can probably tell by my lengthy reply. lol

I simply -had- to use our pics. I told him it was going to be our apartment someday. lol Though, without the super dangerous spiral staircase right in front of a massive window. hahaha

Thanks so much! I'm so busy I don't have much time to play and make more rooms and stuff right now, but in about 7 weeks (I think) I will be sharing my first short film. It'll only be 1 minute and 28 seconds or so, but that's a huge undertaking in such a short time, considering the assignment means I have to do all parts of production by myself. lol

It's a snowman and snowwoman love story :D

A friend on Deviantart.com drew this for me, so I coloured it for him as part of our lil collabo. Apparently all my friends dislike his style, but think my colouring job is good...haters. I like his style. it's interesting. lol Anyway, coloured this in old ass photoshop.
