As an IR Couple, have you ever had to face prejudice?

As above..

We have not had an awful lot of prejudice, but I have had a couple of people say some very rude and racist comments - simply for dating a black guy.

I have had a white guy, a friend of a friend totally turn on me when someone mentioned my boyfriend is black. I wont quote what he said as it was really, really disgusting and offensive I really didn't know how to deal with it and just ended up walking off in total shock and disgust.

I also get annoyed with girls saying 'oh is it true what they say about black guys dicks?!' especially when I barely know these people! - I normally just respond by saying I'm not going to disclose to you the size of my man's penis... just like I wont ask you what size your mans penis is!

Hi Bex, I know this behavior in others is VERY annoying, keep in mind, that they do this to make *themselves* feel better about their own prejudice. They cannot fathom that an IR relationship would be based on a *real* emotional, intellectual, spiritual, morals and values, and yes physical connection, due to their own bigotry. Thus in order for them to make sense of your choice in men in their sick twisted minds, they try to reduce your relationship to something sordid, base, and animalistic. The best thing to do is to lead by example and show others that your relationship is wonderful, complex and deep on multiple levels, as George Herbert said a long time ago, "living well is the best revenge".:smt023

Yes u get it all the time, mostly I ignore it.

But I am realy thinking if I should go for telling people that I never meet a bm with less then 15 inches.( for joking ok I have meet guys in all sizes lol it is actually pretty various)


I was living in a nice neighbout hood in my town ( only Germans). I was always dating black guys, never heard anything, life was normal. Then I started dating a white guy, suddenly neighbours was talking with me.( just normal stuff like.. wheater ok today, tomorrow it is going to snow bla bla)

It is nobodies buisnees why u are togher with some one...... it don´t mean, that non interracial couples are toghter because of those super values!! There are many of those who just like to f*** each other. But they are not interracial, so it is aproved by the society and it is ok, with no question.

I have so many white guys telling me I should not date because bm are known cheaters!!! YES they are!!!!! Like men are in general that what they are no matter of the color!! ( Cheaters or not l)

I feel you on this one Bex. Some people got some ignorant misconceptions about BM/WW couples. It seems to always be reduced down to sex. Not that the brothers dont have a tight sex game, just sayin. LOL

Back in the day when the terms "Jungle Fever and Sell Out" were popular, the guys I was with around that time, were called that for being with me.

I've been lucky in that aspect, cause I know a guy friend of mine whos Black, was with a White chick at Magic Mountain (Amusement park for those who don't know) and some Black chick came up and punched the White girl for no reason.

Like many, I've gotten the stares, but nothing outrageous.

 

Yeah. That was also back in the day. I know for my best friend who's a tall dark skinned Black dude and his ex-girlfriend who was also tall, but a White redheaded chick, went to NYC and they had people staring and even commented. When I was back in NY, I was out with a Black dude and even held hands, I didn't get any grief. I've also been with a Black dude in ATL (College Park) and nothing happened. I guess it depends on who, what and where.
