I recognise that my happy go lucky life is a little too much at times...but i really do feel very blessed. I’ve had the most wonderful day with my kids & dad, then followed it up with my best girls...it is true...life is what you make of it...!!! we could dwell on the bad, or we can embrace the now...!!! Life is wonderful...!!!

I got my driver's license today! Its finally over! I did it.

But the instructor busted my shops. Busted them in half I'd say.
    Here's what happened....

Throughout the test my instructor is speaking in this robotic, monotone voice, much like a computer speech program. "Turn right here", "Parallel park between the cones", "Preform a K-Turn". During the whole test he sounded like the Terminator.
So I pull in the parking lot of the MVC (DMV in NJ) and there's this long awkward silence. I asked if I passed the test. The instructor said in his monotone, listless voice, "No." He writes something down on his note pad. I was crushed. CRUSHED. I worked hard to prepare for the test, and its all over. I was screaming inside my head, "Dammit! I can't pass this test in Newark! I can't beat the Nazis here. I should've went to Wayne. I SHOULD'VE WENT TO WAYNE! (Wayne, NJ that is. The only place in the world where Mr. Magoo can receive a driver's license. It's really easy there.)"
Another long awkward silence. So I say to him "Are you gonna tell me what I did incorrectly?" I was trying hard not to explode. He says to me "I'll tell you in a minute." When he said that, "I'll tell you in a minute", it sunk it in. I really failed. I tried my best and I failed. He's writing in his notepad. He says to me "Shawn, do you consider yourself a good sport?" I remembered my training in martial arts and I elect not to be a smartass with him. A wise decision. I say to him "Yes I do. I win and lose with grace and dignity. (An utter lie) If I lose, I try to analyze my mistakes, and when I compete again I will work hard mot to make the same mistakes again." He says to me " Its good you think like that, because you passed." Hearing that made me happy. Real happy. I wanted to do a damned back-flip. The instructor's name was Mr. Norman. I'll never forget him. What was on his notepad you may ask? It was the checklist. I passed road test with flying colors.

Getting my license processed was a joyous event. I smiled during my license photo. The line was short. The fee was cheap. I went to work a happy man.

    And that's all I got...

I did great on my first night!!!!

I learned something: the Opera draws out a very large crowd of white people. That shit was almost as non-diverse as my home town! like 480 white people, 20 who weren't. lol

My baby Nate is absolutely AMAZING, btw. He came down to the office and waited on me for hours after work, because we were afraid I'd not make the last bus and have to walk like 10 miles home. So he was there waiting for me, and we caught the very last bus home...I love him so so so so soooo much omg.

    ZOMBIE WALK TOMORROW!!!!!!!!

P.S. CONGRATS SONNY!!!!! I'm so happy for you! I remember how elated I was when I finally got my license when I was 22, so I bet you're ecstatic!

He's seriously so amazing! It's like every day I'm thanking my lucky stars to have him.

I felt so bad for a coworker on the van ride back to the office. She was upset over something that happened at work (no idea what it was though) and she was crying on the phone with her boyfriend, and they were arguing over something, and he apparently wasn't interested in picking her up at the office, even though he had a car.

And I was sitting there thinking about how lucky I am to have someone not just willing to pick me up, but willing to walk 10 freaking miles home with me if that's what it took to make sure I got home safe. -After- he'd already worked a shift at his own job.

What made it worse is I've been in her situation before, so I know how bad she felt. :( I hope she finds her a better guy eventually. But not mine, cause I'm keeping his ass! lol We're kinda already discussing the whole marriage thing, though it's one of those "in a few years" kinda things. I hope it works out, though. I never thought I'd get married again, but, if it weren't for the financial situation, if he asked me tomorrow I'd so say yes. lol It's not a feasible thing until years from now, though. But, if I'm lucky, we'll be able to afford it some day.

YAY!! You sound so deliriously happy. And you guys are young, no need to rush marriage. But, it sounds like it's on a good path. :D

I had a sort of impromptu date tonight with a guy I have been talking to on the dating site. It was last minute, just meet for a beer kind of thing. We ended up spending 5 hours together. We closed down the bar. I had a lot of fun and he was a perfect gentleman. He walked me to my car and gave me a peck on the lips. Dating is fun!! :smt023

Loooord, I certainly won't rush it, that's for sure. haha. I've made that mistake once before, though 3 years isn't "rushing it" for some. I think another year or two might've made a world of difference in my decision, though! lol But I'm not really tempted to jump into that sort of thing any time soon. The commitment part would be easy, but there's no way we could even afford a decent wedding, let alone support ourselves. My rule is we gotta wait for those golden "professional" jobs and save up first...simply because it'd be impossible to save up with the pennies we make now thanks to part time jobs and full time class loads. I don't think I could object to a pretty, shiny ring and an extremely long engagement period, though...I like shiny things. But he's a broke college kid, he certainly can't afford those level of shinies just yet, either.

I don't care if we never get married, it doesn't stop me from being insanely happy. :D I'm a tiny bit disillusioned about marriage, though. A legal document and a couple of rings don't guaruntee a happy, healthy, loving relationship...if I never get legally married again, I'm fine. But it's nice to feel like I might like to someday. It's cool. :D

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Hooray for gentlemen!!!!!!!!!! I gots one, they're loads of awesome, I swear. lol Is he cute? Does he have a dazzling smile? I'm a sucker for a great smile.

That was something I loved when I was dating. I actually ran into a few gentlemen, and it was so refreshing. If only the chemistry were right I think I'd have went for one of them, really. I had this one lovely African fella take me out to a movie one night, and we spent an hour afterward chatting...but while he seemed to enjoy himself very much, and I enjoyed his company...his conversation skills were a bit lacking. It kinda ruined it. >.< Hope he found someone, though. He seemed like a really nice guy.

Be careful, though! Some guys suck. I've got my share of dating horror stories, too. lol
