Wish there was a youtube video but has anyone seen the overly artistic Levi jeans "Go Forth" commercial which features a black man and a white woman kissing with the words "Love" over them?

    wait wat?

i'm supposed to feel inspired to buy some tired jeans, from a tired-ass clothing company, after seeing this?

    :smt030

give me the director's helm....my commercial will just say 'levis, buy them or go blow maggots for all i care'

    basically

i never understood using polished commercials (or the people that make purchases, based on those to boot), to sell merchandise

    never

simple, cold truth..is what's needed, in my opinion. You don't have to put on a 'dog and pony' show, to get me to buy your stuff. But some people are attracted to the commercials, and let them dictate their purchasing habits. Those same people like shiny objects and subscribe to gucci mane's twitter.

    I have to agree...
I have a dislike for commercials that have nothing to do with the product..
Especially the artsy ones - sure, cute to look at, but what product is it again??? I dont get it.

Yup. Generally established brands do this, because they don't really need to tell us about the product. Levi Jeans speak for themselves really... you don't need someone telling us all about them. You can notice the same for all those silly Cadbury's ads... they have nothing to do with chocolate whatsoever.

You know I was thinking about what I wrote and your response, and then - it dawns on me that I must contradict myself...I cant stand the artsy pointless commercials but I cant wait for the super bowl commercials, that many times are equally pointless....
    but I love them...
    go figure
(hey, at least they arent the artsy ones)
    :)

Here is a different perspective on those commercials.

I myself like the commercial, and if they keep making commercials bringing everyone under one tent, then I will support them. If they like to break taboos (such as the IR kiss at the end), then I will give them money.

There are worse alternatives than being pandered to.

i loved the commercial...but i am actually someone that pays attention to and studies brand awareness...i read a variety of magazines for the exact same reason...i can hardly wait for the september issue of vogue to come out every year...some of the european fashion magazines might as well be coffee table books they are so gorgeous...

having said that quite a few generic products have caught my attention recently...target has repackaged their competitive priced pharmacy items and showcased them right next to all the well known brands by category...the savings is incredible...i never bought the generic brand from target before but the new packaging caught my eye and i decided to try the more economical route

I think the point of the commercial was to show levi's jeans
through american life, a way of saying it is america's jeans. Is
what I got from it anyway.

Im glad they put IR in another american commercial as well, for the
reasons IR more so bm & ww interracial seems to cut off everytime from
it being it turning into a flow, and on going thing. Maybe this time it will
keep going, Im liking the way flow is going now days, lets hope it wont be
    derailed again.
