The effects of the economy today on your regular leisure activities. In this case I mean Travel.

As a consequence of the stagnant economy, does it hinder your traveling?

Are you more weary of traveling these days?

Did it not affect you at all?

Do you try to get cheap deals more often now?

I think you get the point. Please help me out thanks.

    Raul,

I was travelling last year when the economy crashed. My dollar lost 1/3 of it's value and I was in sh*t. I cut every non-essential expense, bummed off people and lived as cheap as possible. I learnt a lot!

The economy has no bearing on travelling now. I'm currently not travelling, but am saving to do so at the earliest possible time.

It changes it *slightly* because my dollar still hasn't recovered which, in turn, makes everything a bit more expensive. But, we're doing ok. Conversely, however, flight prices dropped in order to get people in - so, that was great. :)

I always try to get the cheapest deals, as my desire is to travel, not be a tourist, and to be away for as long as possible. The less you spend, the longer you can wander.

People who blame the economy for things like not being able to travel are just not trying hard enough. If you want something badly enough, you'll find a way to get it.

Not at all. I fly for free. And the deals are getting much better for discount cruises and hotels.

    Nope.

It definately affected me. I lost about 1/3 of my 401K which affects my decision on when to retire.

Loved cheap stuff even before the crash. Hasnt affected my shopping much at all.

Biggest worry for me is job security. I am fucked if I loose my health insurance.

When it comes to traveling, and just about everything else, the shitty economy didn't affect me much at all, except that suddenly it became harder to find even a crappy minimum wage job. I was unable to travel before due to the expense of it, and still am.
