I was replying to a thread by Komo: So, I wanna hear thoughts as to why you, people you know, or just people don't get dressed anymore, what's up with that (Maybe we should start a movement).
Hummmm I got tired of dressing up. I had to work for years in a very conservative enviorment with a strickt dress code and had to put each day some make up on. I even had no clothes to go for bowling because I only had time to shop clothes for work. For a special occasion ok, but since I am not realy a party queen.... what to dress up for? My man? Well I guess this guy likes me naked more soo......not in the public.. LOL
I think its nice to see a man dress well or even see myself wear something nice most people now they dont .. with this i dont mean to dress everyday and i know many are comfortable wearing something simple but its 2 different things wearing something nice and simple and just dont care what you wear, how many times you go on the shops around 6pm only to do some groceries and you see people having their kids already in the night clothes. Now when this kids grow up how the hell will now when to get dress and not even that u see some adults walking on the shop with night clothes ok we all like siimple sometimes but this is too much. Nothing wrong when you go out for dinne to be more formal or when you visit a friend or some other occasions. To dress good dont have to be expencive either, you can do it with what you have as not everyone can buy something that cost a lot, just i see it people loking to feel comfortable and simple but end up and forget that you can look good and be comfortable at the same time also.
I personally agree... I so adore the way people got dressed in the 20s, 30s and 40s - so very different styles, but man, were they rocking it!!! I tend to buy skirt suites and dresses that reflect the 40's for work. A little longer skirts but with very figure hugging silhouette. Im so tired of work out clothes and gym shoes on the street all the time, break it up a little: I love a man in a suite - these pictures were great!!!
NO Excuses I know everyone can't afford a closet full of expensives, but few nice pieces you can change up go a long way. Look at it like this too, I wear a lot of black, sometimes people think I'm wearing the samething, but I still get coments from those people. And come on, I wore suit the other day and I felt out of place, & it was a banquet after six. I told you about the guy at the resturant, why are we letting peole get away this?
I can understand you do end up feeling out of place but if this what you like to wear do it and dont care will be nice change and see more formal clothes sometimes
When I was a young teen, I didn't have much money but often found myself at fancy places. I was always terrified of being under dressed. I would scare the wits out of myself, angsting in a blouse & skirt while everyone else was in suits, or worse, gowns. Nowadays, when I go somewhere fancy and I see people who are under dressed, and obviously not because of lack of funds, it actually makes me happy, like they're doing it just for me. I know they're not, but somehow those early years affected me so much that now under dressed people just make me happy. Every under dressed person around you just makes you look better, so it's a win, enjoy it! artyman:
I grow up with having very little clothes .. but always had people with better clothres that cost a lot be jealous of me ..because its not how many you have and what brand it is its how you put it together and know what goes well with your body type.. i was not happy either all teen want a lot of clothes but still i prefer to be dressed even now.. nothing wrong with people that dont like to dress all am saying is you see on ocasions that need to be dressed people dont and look bad.. now if i go to a park i will dress very simple if i go to a dinner i will wear something nicer... maybe most here will thing i buy too many clothes been only 3 years i started to get a lot for me ...maybe another reason lately i want to buy as many i can (still i dont get brands) because i had so little when i was young and most of my early teens i was with clothes that my cousin gave i hated this as she had a bad taste.. later when i was older i was making some money working a little and getting make up as my parents didnt want to buy me any.. and was able to get more clothes... also i was never spending the money for lunch for school to save more what can i say i love clothes
All I'm sayin... ...I'd rather see you in the same nice Armani suit every time there is a special occasion that calls for it rather than under dressing. But I'm not sayin you have to spend a lot of money either, it's better to wear economically nice clothes when appropriate opposed to khakis & polo, or like I said in some instances I've seen worse. Also, when I was brought, my father & MOTHER told me every man should at least one nice suit, a pair of shoes & watch. They never said how much it had to cost or how many if you go beyond one, they just said one, I don't think that is to hard to swing, is it?
I know what you are gettin at. Dressing up doesnt have to cost a lot. It has more to do with your choices. If you look at my pics from when I was a small child, all us kids were dressed up. Nothing expensive, but we sure didnt look like kids do today. Mom never left the house without her hair in a chignon and some lipstick on. I really love the retro girls with their 40s and 50s styles. Cool photo spread.
Nyx, thanx for the comp, although I might have to pass it onto my father who instilled upon me. oh yeah , I just noticed, thanx for blessing my RP
