Men Are Weak to Beauty Power

A lady at work told a male co-worker that men are weak when it comes to the power of beauty. She said that men are simply too easy to fall prey to a beautiful woman. She said this because of a new employee who was just hired who is indeed a beautiful woman. I think she believes the males in management were overcome with this woman's appearence and hired her. There may be something to this, but I believe the woman in question was simply qualified to get the job. The lady has two masters degrees, has the experience and she is well spoken. I wish these put downs on men as being weak to women would just stop. I believe most men know how to control the power of beauty and not be sucked into it's embraces, so to speak. What amazes me is not so much how men react to a beautiful woman, but how other women react out of envy toward other women's appearence. It must be that natural competition.

In the professional world it's much less effective. Outside of work it's power is magnified. There are many reasons but I dont care to get into them.

  3. It is ALSO true that physically attractive people in professions tend to higher average pay than the other 90%, do better at interviews etc. This woman may well have commented out of jealousy, but there is a grain of truth to it. The father of a friend of mine is a retired Police Chief in the home counties, according to him about 50-100 women recruited in the early 90's as constables were taken on PRIMARILY on the basis of their looks.

As for companies, there are indeed some environments where unfair hiring practices occur - sadly, I've seen some blatant ones, although more because of nepotism than eye-candy.

Tall people are shown to have more success too. So there must be something to getting ahead with the help of your physical attributes.

I think height is often more a factor of health, upbringing etc. Being tall does not make you more prone to being successful but usually the circumstances that made you tall (raised with good nutrition, parents with more lucrative careers to provide that good food etc.) contribute to that.

However, I will say that when I've gone to the hospital (my personal doctor is quite short though)...I've noticed that while the female doctors are generally on the shorter side, the male doctors are rarely shorter than '5-8" and it seems like most of them are pushing six feet or more. Many of the patients though seem short (though that is a function of demographics...mainly Mexicans with lots of Native American blood as opposed to Spanish blood.)

Genetics play a huge part in whether or not a person is short or tall.

Everywhere I have worked I have had a tall wm as my boss except for one. Coincidence. I think not.:smt077

There are always exceptions. The VP of the building I work at for my company is about 2 inches taller than me (which makes him about 5'5" or so). The VP of Finance is also not a tall man.

    However, the CEO is tall.

Here are the executives at the company I work for - very few of them are particularly tall - but I think that is a coincidence as everywhere else I have worked they have been tall wm.

  14. Are all of them on the board, or is that a group picture of the Board + assorted heads of department? Also, what does the one 2nd from the left do?

The board members and the executive committee are not the same people, with a few exceptions - I think my company has about 80,000 employees...
I have no clue what she does to be honest, I can look it up though:)
I live about 2400 miles from HQ .

  18. Ahh, that explains it. I suspect the Board itself may be much more homogenous. Don't worry about looking the lady up, but thanks for offering.

There is generally nothing wrong, if a woman prefers a man with money..It is the guarantee for a better start in life for her children. At the end mostly she is responsible for their common kids..Men leave many times and when they are in a new relationship, the former "family" isn´t so important anymore..

It is extremely difficult to raise a kid and to work for your daily needed money.. and I personally think that it is my obligation that my child has the best chances for education..

    Men also prefer beautiful women...

But for sure, it´s disgusting, if a woman just looks for money, if she is greedy and just wants to take an advantage out of a man.
