Karand, most of us have had the wool pulled over our eyes at some point in our lives. You shouldn't feel like a fool. Some people are very good at deception. You are just going through all the stages that people go through when they have been hurt by someone. There is nothing wrong with being sad over losing what you thought you had. Give yourself enough time to work through your emotions, and then move on. Be thankful that you found out now what type of man he is before you had married him and had a family. I know that it hurts now, but you will be better off in the long run. I know that is easy for me to say because I'm not the one going through it, but in time, you will be thankful that you found out now.

Here is a link to a thread on cheating. I don't know if you have seen it, but it might help you with what you are going through. I wish you well.

Your phrasing reminds me of a friend of mine (female) who would always say things like: I'm freezing my nuts off, or I'm sweating my balls off, and other "balls" related things. LOL.

It's quite pleasant in Chicago. Almost feels like Fall. :(

Public humiliation is kinda gratifying Karand. I know that sounds cruel & petty and so not nice but he deserves it. I dated a louse who had completely lied to me (I was stupid enough to fall for the lies) and when I found out he was married, I found his wife's number, called her, and we planned & executed a joint confrontation at the airport when he returned from Afghanistan.

Recently I discovered a horrible reality show on TV called "Cheaters" where people who suspect their partners are cheating call the show to investigate (i.e. film and follow) the suspected cheaters. Then a confrontation is also filmed and aired. If I am ever cheated on again, I just might do something like that. :smt074 It's a modern day version of the scarlet letter.

Good luck Karand, my thoughts are with you.

I'm pretty sure that I'm one of the unluckiest people ever :|

I'm not going to Russia so my degree might be completely fucked. We don't know yet.
For the last few weeks we've been trying to sort out a student visa and have had very little responce from the application centre. I had to go to London on my own once, they said everything was fine. Then the next day I got a phonecall saying that the Russian consulate was refusing to give me a visa because I was born there and I still have Russian citizenship.
The funny thing is, when my mum tried to get a Russian passport for me a few years back they refused. They said that I didn't have citizenship and I couldn't get a visa and there was no way for me to have joint citizenship.
So we just got on with it and I lived happily ever after with my British citizenship.

    Except not.
Except, I still have a Russian citizenship (apparently, unless you ask the president via letter, you can't get rid of it) and can't have a visa for my English passport.
A Russian visa will take three months. My course finishes in three months.
    So yeah. Flight = £220. Visa = £140. Insurance = £80. Travel to London = £80. Visa invitation fee = £100. Russian beaurocracy = Priceless.
I can't get any of my money back, not a penny. And I'm pretty fucking skint, to put it nicely.
But it's not even that, this means that I'll either have to swap round my year abroad destinations and go to Spain first, defer a year or drop out completely.
Obviously, I'm trying to see if any Spanish universities will take me for the autumn term. No reply so far since it's very short notice. I really, really don't want to defer a year. And drop out... well. I don't want to end up working as a full time cleaner in Tescos.

So fuck knows. I'm just holding out for one of the Spanish universities, Obviously Uruguay isn't a possibility now but I don't even care anymore, I'll be happy if anyone takes me.

And as for Russia? I don't even know if I can go when I get my Russian passport because yeah, then I can get into Russia, but how will I get out? Will I need a visa to come to England even though I already have a British passport? They don't look too kindly onto joint-citizenship.
I might get the opportunity to study Russian in Odessa, the head of Russian said he'd make an exception for me but I would have to arrange everything myself. And you know, I don't speak any Ukranian.

So yeah. Future's looking a bit grim at the moment.

Also, never go to any Russian consulates or embassies. They are the rudest, least helpful, meanest people in the world. My mum and I were both in tears after ten minutes.

This deserves its own thread because there are A LOT of people on this forum with bad luck and you're nowhere near the bottom of the pile.

For the uninformed, perhaps you should explain why your degree is contingent upon studying in Russia? If it is languages you're studying, one would hope that your qualifications should be met through demonstrating written and/or spoken fluency regardless of traveling anywhere.

Bureaucracies can be the least responsive form of government, because employees are not popularly elected and they tend to be self-regulating bodies. You do, however, pay the salaries of everyone working there, so hound them until they bleed.

I also assume that you've gotten in touch with the people of significance at your university and gave them a preliminary rundown of your current situation. The next step may involve asking for reprieve should the universe decide to conspire and fuck you out of your degree. Fight back!

Well, to be fair, I'm not about to disclose all of my misfortunes on an internet forum. I'm not saying this is the worst thing to happen to me, not by a long mile. But it still isn't nice.

My degree is Russian and Spanish languages. I have to study Russian somewhere where Russian is spoken to graduate. This isn't down to me but down to my university, which is fair enough.
Odessa may be an option because they teach Russian in the Ukraine and have quite a lot of Russian tourism there. But again, I don't speak Ukranian.

We don't. The Russian government do, since the employees in the consulate and the embassy and even the visa application centre are all based in Russia. They are chosen by the Russian government and paid by the Russian government.
I'm guessing you've never dealt with Russian government either. They just don't give a shit, quite frankly.

Of course. My Spanish tutor is helping find a university in Spain. No luck so far. If I can't find anything, they've told me exactly what I said before - if I want to stay at university, my only option is to drop out.
Financially, I may be eligible for a £250 grant because of how much money I lost through this but it isn't guaranteed and can't be applied for until term starts, and the English semester doesn't start until late September.

It's just the waiting game now and if I don't get a place in Spain, then I have to decide whether or not I want to defer or drop out. I will probably defer, but I don't know if I can manage getting into more debt with my student loans since these years' fees have already been paid to St. Petersburg state university and I can only get half of them back, if everything falls through.

Seems like a small compromise but given that the course would likely be taught in a mix of Ukraine/Russian, passing it could prove to be a daunting task. Cleaning the aisles in a grocery store is probably more daunting, however.

Odessa is in Southern Ukraine and Russian is supposedly the lingua franca in the Northern and Southern portions of the country. The next step is to contact the instructor(s) at the university to see how the course will be taught.

    Fight!

    1) Welcome back, Athena!!!
    2) Russia: I really hope you can work it out!!!
    3) Sonny: yay!!! You got a female's number! Hey... u sure it isn't a man?

    4) My new car has arrived. I went to pay the first 4.000 euro for it. Once I get the new insurance next week, I can go, leave my old car and get back home the new one!!!!! She is so sweet, I already love her! LOL

    5) There was the chance that my dad would come here to live with us instead of my mum (I hated the idea but my family is a mess now). When he claimed that "we don't need a washing machine to survive, we can hand wash, and we don't need the heat this winter, we can wear 4 sweathers", me and my bro begged mum to stay with us instead of letting him in.

    6) They asked me to go to do a bellydance show to another country. In Albania (yeah, I know... LOL). It's all managed by an agency... I'll see what I'm supposed to do, for how much time... and well I'm pretty sure it's well paid. even if I get only 100 euro, everything is paid so it's good.

I was sworn in last Friday August 28th, along with 3500 other people as an American citizen. I got my Certificate of Naturalization and I applied for a US passport book and a passport card as soon as the ceremony was over. They both should be coming in the mail in about a week or so. Now I can visit 155 countries without the need of a visa and stay up to 90 days.

Pretty soon I am going start screaming "Yay, we're number 1!"
