fascinating... one of those 'cultural awareness' type films.. hopefully more people will come to understand that we're not simply born to hate our hair, but are taught to hate it, through media and society. The Indians and Koreans are making a KILLING selling hair to sistas.
That flick brings memories. Until that movie I thought the hair thing was resolved in the 60's especially when even the light skined women were wearing fros.
White girls don't do it nearly as much, though. I don't know about hispanic women, though, but I don't know any who wear weaves personally. Same thing with white girls. But nearly all of the black women I have in my extended circle have some form of hair that didn't grow out of their head. I'm one of the few white chicks I know that can't wait to go hair shopping. lol My roommates are supposed to show me some good places to get great deals on braiding hair. Though that's for myself -and- my customers.
