It was an interesting movie, played with the idea of stereotypes, well written and well acted, not great but good movie.

I saw it. I found it to be amusing at times. I watched it one night when nothing else was on. It was 'cute'...not bad...

For those who don't wanna click on the link...the movie is :

i saw in a theatre and afterwards had a chance to sit in on a q&a session with the director. i have to say that i identified with the male protagonist but after seeing medicine for melancholy it comes off as two dimensional. its was refreshing to see a male lead that i could personally relate to but i think it only describes one part of black masculinity that is considered 'alternative' to the normal depiction.

the title is misleading. it is as misleading as the graphics/posters/promotional posters for 'black snake moan' its not so much a black guy being 'through' with white girls but a young man putting away childish things and focusing on something real.

For a BETTER movie in the same vein i would HIGHLY recommend viewing Jezebels Kiss. Its Hill Harper at his comedic peak.

For reference it should be noted that the female lead (too lazy to look up the name) was the writer/director/producer of the film.

Looks like another really shitty, badly written movie. Did it really make it to the big screen? Looks like one of those straight to video movies. Well at least it seems some people liked it.

I met a film writer the other day. They are very weird people. This lady has basically spent 2 years writing a script, and she says it's gonna take another 2 years to finish it. Basically 4 years straight pondering scenes, contemplating dialogue, and hardly interacting with other human beings from what i could tell.

I did see the movie; saved it to my DVR so that I could watch it a couple of weeks ago. It wasn't too bad but I agree that the title is a bit deceptive. A tad out of the box but we need more films like this.

i work in the film industry and 4 years is about right. take a logical look at it; it takes an absurd amount of money to produce a film, so those who hold the money want to be sure that a project is absolutely water/air tight before giving it the green light.

but then there are other examples that break out of the mold.

i would like to recomend this movie as i mentioned it in my first post in this thread:

very very very very very good and it features Wyatt Cenac (sp) of the dailyshow.

it gets into racial politics which is a lot of what is talked about here.
