Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair has been shot and killed.

Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron confirmed that police were called to a residence and found McNair and a woman shot to death inside. Aaron said authorities don’t yet know the circumstances of the shooting.

“I don’t have any answers for you now as to what’s happened, who’s responsible,” he said.

Aaron said police have tentatively identified the woman but did not release her name.

McNair played 13 seasons in the NFL and led the Titans within a yard of forcing overtime in the 2000 Super Bowl. The former third overall draft pick also played for the Baltimore Ravens before retiring after the 2007 season

I heard about this earlier. I'm still in shock because I've watching this cat play since way back in his college days. He also use to give my team a lotta fits during his career with the Titans. Arguably one of the toughest men to ever play the game of football. I had mad respect for the kind of player that he was, but more importantly the kind of leader that he was on the field.

R.I.P. Steve McNair, you will be missed.

The sad and ugly thing is that both Steve and his young 20 yr old companion lady friend both sustained a gunshot wound to the head....which sounds like a personal crime of passion.
It might be the work of the jaded ex-lover of the girl........or even a contract killing authorized by his wife......... But because he died in the ill-intentioned fashion of a condo at 2:00am in the morning with a young woman who was not his wife , some people will make the argument that he got what was coming to him........I just hope they also remember that Steve gave us 13 years of exciting football.

Murder-suicide seems obvious-- far too obvious.
First, it is very rare for female perps to do a murder-suicide.
Second, if someone wanted to murder one or the other knowing the situation, staging a murder-suicide would be the easy choice. Hmmm.....Pretty unusual for a female to commit suicide with a gun to the head. Ex boyfriend claims that she was breaking it off with McNair so why would she kill him and herself over it? Something isn't adding up here. There may be more to this than meets the eye. Just sayin'!

In the words of Oscar Wilde, "I can resist everything but temptation." McNair had so much character and so much heart and such a fatal flaw. We humans are complicated beings. We can be so gifted and yet can't rid ourselves of our addictions. So sad, so sad.

In any event, prayers to the young girl, McNair and his family. God bless his wife and children and help them get through this.

    RIP BIG guy

It is very rare, but not unheard of. Remember Phil Hartman? His wife killed him and then turned the gun on herself.

Only time (obviously) will let us know the real story behind what happened.

Yep, I know the Hartman case. I am just saying, who knows. This could well be a crime of passion. She just had a DUI two days ago...maybe argument...someone is trying to break it off........it is way to early to speculate.

All I know is Steve was a great QB and someone who always gave back to his community. I don't really know what was going on in his personal life.

    He will be missed.

To the McNair and Kazemi families, I send my deepest sympathy and regret for your loss and that it has come in such a tragic way. May you find a place of peace and solitude in your time of bereavement.

That's what happens when the media speculates before they have all of the facts. :smt013

I hope they find out who did this, and the families can have some peace.
