This is terrible news. Yao Ming's career might be over. Wow. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-yaorockets062909&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
LOL...dang Tony, you gotta tell me where you're finding these gifs. But yeah, it's a sad day for Rockets fans. T-Mac is pretty much done, and Yao is probably done too. What exactly do they have left? Aaron Brooks? Yikes, that franchise is in serious trouble.
Damn. Not only did Yao have to sit out and watch his team be defeated, his career might be done. Damn, this is sad.
as usual, tony is on point with the visual aid lol. but on a serious note, this sounds scarier than i thought. I didn't know Yao Ming's injury was that serious. He can't afford to hang up his sneakers just yet, especially not at only 28. Given the lack of true big men in the league, the last thing we need is one of the last good ones going down. If he does, then Houston, how i can say this nicely .... are fucked.
I didn't think it was that serious at first either. I mean, how bad could a little break in the foot possibly be? But apparently, for a man his size, a small break in the foot is much worse than it would be for somebody of normal height and weight. You are exactly right my friend. If Yao is done, the Rockets are done. They aren't going anywhere, and might as well try to blow it up and start over from scratch.
Yeah, remember a few years ago when Shaq's toe was all fucked? That's bad enough for the biggest man on the court. The whole foot? Damn, this sucks man.
Shaq's longevity is amazing but big men having issues with their legs is nothing new. From Bill Walton to Sam Bowie to Greg Oden just to name a few....some people can handle their height/weight and others cannot for various reasons. I read somewhere that there can be advantages to being taller up to '6-2" but around '6-3" and up...the advantages quickly turn to disadvantages in terms of longevity and various health issues.
Yeah, Shaq is amazing though. He's probably the biggest guy to ever play basketball (height and weight combined) yet he's played like 15 seasons at an extremely high level. It makes me appreciate how unique Shaq is, even more than i already did.
Yup, they were talking about how Yao is the next Bill Walton/Sam Bowie. To be honest, if i were an NBA team, i would be wary of picking the big guys number 1 overall, because they just don't seem to last very long. It used to be "if you have the chance, always take the big man" but now it's probably a smarter investment to take a guy like Chris Paul or Dwyane Wade ahead of a big guy like Oden or Yao Ming. You'll get more out of your investment.
Say it ain't so, say it ain't so!!!!! <prayer> Not my favorite genetically engineered Chinese NBA player!!!!! Take T-Mac, lord, his ego is too swollen anyhow! </prayer>
LOL....it's funny you mention that, because there are rumors floating around that Yao was a genetically engineered child. People are also suggesting that he amputate his foot and replace it with a robotic foot so he can keep playing LOL. http://www.insidehoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=137878
Man, I've said he was genetically engineered since I first heard of him. How many 12ft tall Chinese guys do you know???
There was a renaissance of skilled big men back in the day but now it seems that a guy (take Dirk, KG or Timmy D for instance) that is '7-0" with great skill usually stays around 240-250 lbs and plays power forward. Each of those guys 15-20 years ago would have played center. Oddly enough I think Karl Malone's presence at the PF still has an effect today.
Yeah, I heard this news story once, where they were all trying to explain away Yao's height as a matter of natural genetics. They said that his generation of Chinese people had more tendency to be so large to make up for the previous generation's being so small due to lack of nutrition. Supposedly, when Yao's generation got better food and junk, that, plus human beings' tendency to overcompensate, caused an influx of humongous Chinese people. Bullshit. That n**** been grown in a goddamn test tube!!!!! Besides, medical research is so cheap to operate in China, you know them bitches gotta be waaaay ahead of us anyhow. They just don't wanna let us in on the secrets yet! ...that's my theory. lol
I don't think HE was engineered but maybe his parents were. Explain the fact that his mom is '6-3" and his dad is '6-7" and the parents came up in a generation before China hit the stride that it is in now. I know random stuff does occur but...conspiracy....anyone.....
I don't know about genetic engineering, but I remember being suspicious when I heard about the respective heights of his parents years ago. I also remember hearing that Wang ZhiZhi's parents were both very tall former basketball players when he played for the Mavs back in the day. The Chinese government selects athletically gifted children at a young age and forces them to pursue certain sports, so it's not much of a stretch to assume that his parents' pairing was arranged by the athletic authorities. As for Yao's career, I never thought he would have longevity in the NBA due to his commitment to the Chinese national team. Playing at that level year around has to be devastating to the body of a person that size. It's a damn shame that he may be finished already.
