Lift heavy...very heavy. Try to increase the weights you are lifting so that you can lift no more than 6 reps in a given set. Perhaps do 4 sets of 6 reps or even 5 sets of either 5 or 6 reps. Work large muscle groups such as your quads and back. Do power exercises like deadlifts, squats, bench press, power clean, clean and jerk etc. Always stretch your muscles after working out to retain flexibility. Instead of playing basketball or other more aerobic type exercises that induce heavy calorie loss...limit your workout to short, high intensity affairs.

One exercise I've had my friends do is called "25." They would line up..and do yo-yo's...run 10 yards and touch a line...run back to start line...run 20 yards, touch line, then run back to start...and continue this until they've hit the 50 yard line and run back...then they do either 25 push-ups, 25 sit-ups or 25 jumping jacks...wait 25 seconds afterwards, then begin the exercise again.

In other words, do anaerobic exercises and exercises that increase explosion and power (kettlebells, throwing sandbags etc.). Also remember that weight training inevitably increases metabolism as you gain muscle..so keeping weight on will be a struggle....just keep working on increasing the caloric intake and you'll hit your stride.

I know exactly what you're talking about. The one time i did try to life weights, i was shooting airballs, and launching the ball all the way over the backboard. It was embarrassing. I probably just wasn't used to the added strength in my arms, and could probably get adjusted to it overtime. I look at a guy like Ben Gordon who is ripped, but has one of the best jumpshots in the NBA. So i think, it can definitely be done...having a great jumpshot and ripped muscles at the same time.

Thanks Chosen. That is some really good/helpful advice you've given me. I will write this down and take it with me to the gym. Hopefully i can start seeing some good results within a month or two. ;)

I went out today and bought a scale + protein shake mix. I jumped on the scale to see what i'm weighing in at, and it went from 136 to 139. I've been eating a lot more lately. Let's see if i can keep upping my weight until i reach 160 or 165, which is my goal.

Ah man, muscle will increase your range, just requires a little fine tuning the jumper. With all of your physical activity, you should be in good shape. Keep the body fat% low, add muscle and you're golden. If nothing else, just crank out pushups and situps every day.

Right now, I'm still losing bf., but at a very casual pace. Currently at 191, where I posted that I was at 193.4 just earlier this month. I figure that my bf% has had significant drop, and my muscle weight should be up a decent bit. Best part is I'm beginning to see ab-cut.

Pushups is definitely what i've been doing lately. I don't have a gym membership yet, so in the meantime i've been doing pushups. I'm not sure how many i should do daily though. I've been doing only 50.

I know you mentioned that you play ball J. Did you ever play collegiate basketball?

In the 1 semester that I went? :) I played street ball mostly, but got a chance to shoot around with the pros through work... Talk about feeling inadequate.

Which pros did you play with? I was fortunate enough to play with a couple guys who were on the college squad a few times, and they made me look silly. I thought i was a good defender until i played against those guys, so i can only imagine how you felt playing against the pros lol.

Aww man... I played with Craig Hodges waaaaay back in the day at Chicago State. I was still in HS at the time. BJ Armstrong (post-retirement), Pete Meyers (post-retirement), Tyson Chandler, Jamal Crawford, Marcus Fizer, Rick Brunson, Trent Hassell, E-Rob... mostly people from like the 01-04 teams.

Wow, i'm jealous bro! I would play all of those guys in a one-on-one except for Jamal Crawford. He has some of the sickest handles i've ever seen. He would probably cross me up so bad my shoes would come untied lol.

I'm up to 141 lbs now. So that's a 5 lb gain for me in one weeks time. Not to shabby. I can't wait until i break the 150 mark.

    Update:

I am currently at 145.7 lbs

I have gained 9 lbs in a little over a weeks time, and i've been able to keep the weight on. I have been doubling my meal intakes, and eating whenever i feel hungry instead of putting off my hunger until it's more convenient to eat. I've also been doing about 100 pushups a day, so i'm getting a lot stronger as well. My goal is to reach 160, so i'm halfway there.

Yesterday was the first time i've been to the gym, and i did 50 reps on bench press, and 50 reps on another machine (not sure what the name is). The stronger i get, the more reps i'll be able to do i'm sure.

By the way, i had NO idea there were so many attractive women in the gym. I was in shock when i saw that. There's no excuse for guys NOT to go to the gym for this reason alone LOL.

    Wow.

    How tall are you?

Yeah, there's tons of pretty women at the gym, depending on when you go.

And with that being said, I'm heading to the gym RIGHT now.:)

I'm 5'10" but have always been paper thin due to extremely fast metabolism. I can either gain a bunch of weight in a short period of time, or i can lose a bunch of weight in a short period of time. I'm trying to gain it, and keep it on.

Haha....i don't blame you for heading to the gym right now. I'm itching to get back in there myself, but they say not to go everyday (or else you'll strain). But shoot, i go in there with lifting weights on my mind, and i come out of there with pretty women on my mind lol.

HA! I do that ALL the time.

What makes it even better is that there's this REEEAALLLY good looking girl that works at the front check-in counter.

I ALWAYS enjoy seeing her. :smt057

Sometimes, I adjust my weekly workout schedule to accomodate for the days that she's working. :p

Good work Bryant! You are beating me right now because I am stuck at 220 for the moment. Hope to have a breakthrough this week because I have had some good workouts and I am sticking to my diet.
