What is the interracial dating/marriage environment like where you are?

Ten years ago, I probably would have disagreed with you. Today, I have to agree that DC isn't the greatest for interracial dating.

I really feel for some of you guys who are from areas where there is no IR dating. Reading about some of the abuse you guys have had just for being in an IR relationship makes me very sad. And also lucky to be living in England.
There are certain parts of England where you might get a look, (South West, North East) but it's rarely anything malicious.
Even when it comes to IR couples in the media here, nobody really gives a shit. I've noticed that when talking about American TV shows, there always seems to be an outcry when an interracial couple is introduced.

 

Philly, its tolerated, but still stares, and some people will make comments.

 

dated IR growing up in Texas. South Texas in the Rio Grande Valley, i had no problems dating IR(whites or Mexicans). In Dallas FW, 25 years ago it was still a bit unacceptable, but i lived in the burbs and the were many people dating IR. Lots of IR dates in HS in the early 80s, and didnt have many problems.

 

I'm currently staying in Glen Carbon Illinois, and because i just moved here recently, i'm not too sure what the IR dating/marriage scene is. But one thing i do know is, some of these people around here look like they've never seen a black face before lol. At my job, i was looking at some of the demographics for the area, and it said the area was about 92 percent white. So, that definitely explains some of the stares lol. Haven't seen many interracial couples around here yet, besides my sister & brother in law.

Hmm...id say 10%/20 %- you can meet black/white....lotsa other nationalities thought - asians/white/hispanic/white etc... But we do have a club here where you can meet many blk dudes and white women ( most of them on a larger size - bigger girls( no offence pls!)...) Big girl wont usually get as much attention at other places but blk guys i guess make feel beautiful every1 ) !!!!!!!!!!!!way to go!

I hate to say but as a black male i have had many plus size white women who have told me that black men seem to make them feel sexy regardless of their weight while white men seem to ride them about it. Thats one reason i think you see an increase in older white women starting date interracially. I have even had asian women tell me this as well. However over the years i guess to each his/her own if they are happy i dont have a problem with it.

Where I am in Oklahoma, it's not uncommon. I live in a military town...so you get people from all over. But in the more rural places, it's pretty rare from what I can tell. I'm no sociologist.

 

Like others have said in previous posts, The Los Angeles melting pot is probably the most ideal place anywhere in the U.S. for I/R dating.

With us having West Hollywood, and it being the Gay Capital of Southern California, Gay Parade and all, plus with the S.F. Valley being the porn capital of the world, these two facts alone easily makes the liberal attitudes here the majority. The racists here are simply too overwhelmed, and any negative outbursts will make them look way too bigoted to be comfortable, nor will it be tolerated.

But if there IS some heat to take, it'll be most likely from the sistas that see you walking with your girl in The Beverly Center. Spoken from experience.

 

ALot of those old white women wanted nothing to do with blacks when they were still young and beautiful.Now that they are old they feel the need to lower their standards and get some sad black man.Same thing with fat white chicks.
Sad how black men seem to have become the safety net for all the undesirable females of ethnic groups

 

Here, in Estonia, we don't have black ppl at all and everybody knows the ones we have here. Interracial dating is not common at all, usually when u see an interracial couple they are tourists. Most of the ppl here know black guys only from the movies so they really think that every black guy smokes weed, smells bad, doesn't really work and has something big in their baggy jeans
And if estonian ppl see a white girl with a black guy they think it's because she's so ugly or fat that she can't have a white man and a lot of young ppl r still very curious about the baggy jeans thing!
But I can't really blame estonian ppl....we just haven't have any connection what so ever with black men!
