Kris Alingod - AHN Contributor Little Rock, AR (AHN) - The FBI is investigating the suspect in the shooting at a Little Rock Army recruiting center on Monday, which killed one soldier and wounded another. According to reports, a 24-year-old U.S. citizen named Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad faces first-degree murder and 15 counts of engaging in a terrorist act. Muhammad is a Muslim convert who changed his name from Carlos Bledsoe. He recently moved to Little Rock from Nashville. ABC reports that Muhammad had recently traveled to Yemen, where he was arrested for using a Somali passport. "There doesn't appear to be a wider conspiracy or, at this point in time, any indication that he's a part of a larger group or a conspiracy to go further," Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas is quoted as saying. Nonetheless, the FBI's Joint Terrorist Task Force is investigating if Muhammad had acted alone. There were several people at the recruiting center when Muhammad fired while driving by in his truck. Privates William Long, 23, and Quinton Ezeagwula, 18, were standing outside and hit. Long died but Ezeagwula was wounded and is expected to recover. Both victims had not yet been deployed. The killer was showed on television tonight. He was so calm and relax. These muslim converts within this country may well be the next greatest threat to this country.
If anyone has been paying attention to the media, you will recall that these types of acts are happening in Iraq. I remember reading about insurgents lighting up recruiting stations, to dissuade potentials from joining the new Iraqi security forces. You also read and hear about suicide bombers attacking similar places and the sorts. While this shooting was minor, in the since that the fatality rate was low, it still makes you wonder if this is the beginning of a new type of terrorist tactic, on our soil.
Me thinks not. If anything, these white terrorist militia members, like the executioner of Dr. George Tiller strike me as more of a threat than one blatantly deranged guy. And don't even come back at me with the whole Roeder-acted-on-his-own bullshit. First of all, he had close links with fellow crusaders in the radical anti-abortion "movement." Secondly, he could not have acted alone in this murder. It took a well calculated effort on the part of Roeder because he killed Tiller in a church. What kind of person picks a random place like, i dunno, a church to commit a murder? Doesn't that seem like malice aforethought to you? Thirdly, this case is but the most high profile in the recent spate of anti-abortion extremists taking the laws into their own hands. Just because we don't hear about them all the time does not mean they do not exist. Many abortion clinics are routinely protected by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies due to the level of threats and actual incidents of violence they witness. This murder is not the first to happen. You do remember Eric Rudolph, do you not? There are not many groups of home grown Muslim terrorists in the United States; the same cannot be said of domestic white "christian" groups. If anything, they have a more documented records of actual incidents of violence. Yet we launched an entire war against Islam due to the actions of nineteen idiotic extremists? Now who's the real threat to the United States?
I dont think politics should be injected in this issue. Both are scumbags and both deserved to be punished.
I'm sorry, but you injected politics into it by saying, "These muslim converts within this country may well be the next greatest threat to this country." I only had to respond as I saw fit.
Muslim converts, domestically, may present the next greatest threat to our national security. For future reference, if you are going to make a dumb statement, at least have the decency to write it correctly.
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. You never will completely exterminate all terrorists as long as they (the terrorists) have support from many quarters (even within this country). Hell, many on the far left and far right support terrorism in this country that suits their agenda. Nat Turner would probably be seen as a terrorist by today's standards. Terrorism by Islamic Jihad fanatics has been in play against the U.S. long before 9/11. I could list them but, they would bore the disinterested here. The Islamic indoctrinations in the prisons will only grow. The hapless souls like the black brother who killed that recruit is only the beginning of a new war within our country from those who are easily swayed. The far right wing extremists on the otherside of the fence will use an incident like this and others that has occurred over the past year in their quest for an all out war against those who are different. The far left wing want a new world order even if it means the destruction of the country as we know it. If you ask me as far as terrorism is concern I label street crimes as a form of ""domestic terrorism" that should have our immediate concern. The chances of being killed on the streets of the United States is far greater than being killed by an Islamic Jihad fanatic. By the way, there is a report coming out as I type this over the radio that there is rumor of a terrorist threat that was made against that missing plane from Brazil. If true what do you think will be done about it? It was a terrorist (Princep from the black hand) who lit the spark that caused other events that got the world into the First World War. Can we expect the same in this new century from some extremist group from either the left or right to plunge the world into war? P.S. Those who do not like my opinions, TOUGH @#@#.
Give it a rest! I'm not a hypocrite. And I don't know why you would think that I was one. Murder is murder. Both men deserve the death penalty.
Saw Andy Long's father on television tonight. He himself is a veteran retired marine and Andy's brother is also in the service. When Andy was shot and killed (on American soil by a terrorist) he was with another soldier who was injured in the attack. That soldier was black something the media did not even mention. In fact this incident had got less coverage than Dr. Tiller who is now being compared to Dr. Martin luther King. There is something wrong here in the coverage of this story compared to the killings of Dr. Tiller and the shooting in D.C. To me it appears the media want to ignore this story of the homegrown black Islamic (because it goes against some political playbook) terrorist killing an american serviceman. I've heard of the anti-military sentiment, but this is ridiculous. I live in a city that has a large military population. I can tell you this, it's notice by many in the military as to how this media and many anti-military people in this country view them.
