There is a rumor that former black conservative congressman J.C. Watts may run for Governor of Oklahoma. As a conservative black man do you think he stands a chance in this era of the Obama?

I have to admit that Obama has opened the doors even for black conservatives. it would great for him to run , however I am unsure if he would have a hard time in that states republican primary.
If he is serious the time is now.

    He's not running.
He comes from my district in Oklahoma.

I liked him...even though I'm not really conservative.

I'll miss Gov. Henry, he was wonderful!

Unsupported hearsay is a Republican hallmark.

If this is true and since he was elected to congress by the white majority from his district in Oklahoma I don't see why not.

Now as a black republican running for president . . .

I love how these black conservatives hop on the Soul Train when there's extra space. They claim not to like "identity politics" and "preferential treatment" yet they're surely willing to reap the benefits of crops they never harvested. I mean, does anyone believe that if Obama lost the election, the field for the RNC chairmanship would have included two Negroes?

LChris you hit it on the head! Those house slaves would not have a ghost of a chance if it not for Obama. Oh yes those black conservatives would be spewing their nonsense in a historically black college or university if it wern't for King and the Civil Rights movement.

Has there ever been a convention of black conservatives in this country? I know the liberals here will probably say if there was then all the house niggers are stamped and label and sent off to concentration camps. But, in all seriousness, has there ever been a political gathering of black conservatives who came together independent of white conservatives. If so, were they truly independent from the so-called conservative Republican Party. I think on the other side of the fence the liberal blacks have done this. I'm not sure. I would like the liberal blacks here to confirm if liberal blacks ever had their own agenda forum not counting the Congressional Black Caucus. I know the white liberal power srtucture as in the white conservative power structure keep a strong leash on their black subordinates.

Tony, be careful. Fox News will send their sah-cu-ri-tay after you for making "violent threats." :smt106

Oh and to answer Blacktiger's question, there have been very many conventions of black conservative groups in the United States. There is the National Black Republican Association and Project 21 to boot, although the latter is pretty much dead in the waters, with many of its donors either doing time in the pen or not giving a shit about them anymore. Oh, and the executive director is a white guy, how hilarious!:smt020

Also, the NBRA is rather contradictory towards the black conservative ethos of "self-dependence", "assimilation" and lack of identity politics. I mean, if black conservatives hated identity politics so much, then why in the Sam Hill did they give their association such a blatantly race-conscious title? Could it be because race, ethnicity and identity, despite the howls of the Right, matter and figure prominently in politics? Just asking.

At least liberal blacks don't deny race matters, and as such, take steps to ensure that it is apparent to a point of obsolution. Black conservatives, on the other hand, deny shit that even Stevie Wonder with his blind ass can see. Quite frankly, most black conservatives say and do the things they do to reap the rewards. Jesse Lee Peterson is my most prime example. It's hard to believe that any clear-thinking individual with an IQ over 15 will even conceive the things this man comes up with. But he knows that making his asinine remarks guarantees him a place on Fox News, talk radio and right-wing "think"-tanks.

Its so funny that you think the Democratic party loves blacks so much. Our Democrat councilman doesn't gives a rats a%% about the blacks in his district. He has a black woman as a puppet to "handle" the black folk in the community. He responds the white folks concerns and ignores us.
And for the record the far left will turn on black folks if they stop voting blindly for anybody with a D in front of their name. When Prop 8 passed Gay rights people were talking against blacks.

Wow. So you're saying that the entire Democratic party is racist and there is absolutely no racism whatsoever within the Republican party?

Oh boy!!! Where do I sign up???:smt003

You lose a lot of credibility when you demonstrate a lack of knowledge on the subject at hand:

By Chris Cillizza November 8, 2006

Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R), who came up just short yesterday in his Senate race against Rep. Ben Cardin (D), is mulling a bid for the chairmanship of the Republican National Committee, according to an informed GOP source.

...RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman... has made outreach to the African American community a priority during his time as head of the party, and Steele would be seen as a logical successor to that effort.

Why don't you just admit you don't like the guy simply because he is a repubican and you disagree with his policies? At least you would be honest.
