    I have to spread some Rep around, first. Excellent post. You're a great man.

    What a great post and so so true! (Ok I may be a bit biased!) And of course it would be rather odd for single guys to be hanging around many of those places. I don't really think women will find the best candidates in men at the bars, clubs, and gyms either.

    Sir Nose,
    I am glad you are married;………. I don’t need the competition from a man like you out here right now. …..But then again…..I would give me my left arm and my right leg to trade places with you and be in that successful happy marriage like yours. I don’t care what any of your single buddies tell you………there is no more emptier feeling than an old player waking up by himself one morning, and realizing that he can’t have back all those years to share, cherish and reflect on life’s walk all over again with the completeness of a wife.

    Wise words - never too late you know. Maybe some of the players out there will take note. Some of the women players too.

    Thanks for the kind comments everyone, I'm simply testifying about what all should know about these women. It is good to hear the words above too Arch, because it is natural to wonder if the grass is greener on the other side. I was just having a heart-to-heart with Mrs Nose about this last night. One friend of mine in particular who is my age and in the same line of work, we look alike, work out similarly--we could be brothers. He is divorced and a fierce, fierce player. He eats them up and spits them out with no intention of ever even having a relationship. I have a certain awe, but at the same time, he tells me he is unhappy and misses his family life. Tells me I'm the lucky one.

    In my opinion, that's an empty way to live. Sure, it's fun for awhile, but I think in the end, people want to connect with another person.

    I'm reminded of what Chris Rock said in one of his standup routines: "Nobody wants to be the old man in the club". You can only play the field for so long.

    Seems we are living parallel lives, I also have a buddy who went through a unbelievably hellish divorce (all of his friends including myself were screaming at him to not marry a stripper/centerfold four months after he met her, however the little head was doing his thinking, he did not listen and paid a steep price) and now he vacillates between hating all women and wanting to have a marriage like mine.

    hmmmm....only 4 traits...???

    1. Honest - I would prefer to hear the truth no matter how much it may hurt than to be lied to;
    2. Patient - with myself and my children. I've been by myself now for over 2 years & am all my children know. Also I can be rather set in my ways...put that down to having the remote and my big bed all to myself;
    3. Receptive - to all things. This doesn't mean I want to change the man, it means that he needs to be aware that things will change for both himself & for me & the kids;
    4. Kind - of course so many things fall under this umbrella...considerate, sympathetic, forgiving, generous...the list is a pretty big one.
    All in all the 4 "desired" traits are pretty basic ones and really I think even if I was not a single mum, I'd still look for them in my prospective partner.
