i haven't been around a whole lot.
things haven't been too great for me...i've been going in and out of my depressive states.
over medicated and got really sick.
my family thinks i attempted suicide, maybe i did, i don't know.
oh well.

I am driving down a typically placid street and see a guy getting beat up by at least four different guys. I pull over, grab my phone and call 9/11. The thugs jump into their car, hit a u-turn, and start traveling down a side street. Very smart of them because had they passed my way, I would've gotten their plate number. I ask for a paramedic because the guy is bleeding from several cuts in his head and the woman he was with is panicky as shit.

I give the 9/11 operator the information he needs to get there and hang up. The victim and the girl are both in their early 20s', and she reminds me that L.A. is filled with beautiful women who are tied to shady characters. I hop in my car and head home.

 

You should write a book, Saty. There's something literary in your description.

Hmmm....where to begin....

I work for a manufacturing company. We're doing horribly right now. Our bookings or future sales are pitiful with no sign of improving in the near future.

They did a round of lay-offs in December, which was really just getting rid of all of our temps that worked on our Production floor and in the warehouse. They did another round of lay-offs in February - getting rid of middle management. A very good friend of mine was in that first wave. Then they halved our 401K match from 6% to 3% and told us we weren't getting raises this coming year.

Last Thursday, we got bonuses, but 23 people nationwide were let go. Huh. 2 people that worked in my building were let go - both of whom were my friends. So, they actually gave us bonuses and then on the same day, they sent out a memo saying, starting tomorrow (May 1st), we're doing salary reductions and the 401K match is gone. I got hit with a 4% salary reduction. :sad: I'm basically back to what I was making in 2007.

Today, they laid off another person in HR.

It's like a bloodbath here.

So, it got me thinking. My dept has remained unscathed because we were already running on a skeleton crew. But, it won't be unscathed for much longer. We're busy installing a new Production line, so they need everyone. However, that project will only last a couple of more weeks. Out of the 9 people in my dept, I run a very real risk of being laid off - from what I can figure, along with 2 other people.

So, I thought, will I be upset if I get laid off? In the short-term, yes, but long-term, no. This is just a job to me, not my career. So, I think that I would actually welcome it.

I'll do nothing but sleep, read, and watch movies for a week. Then maybe I'll start looking. Or maybe I'll take some more time off, work on writing the script that I started.

Sometimes you need a swift kick in the ass to go after what you want. I just wish that working here wasn't so f-ing stressful right now. Whenever I see the HR lady, I run for the hills. LOL.

Careful though, with putting off waiting to look for another job. They are few and far between!
