You're right about sisters meeting white men at work though.I saw a report on the news about black women dating interracially.It was actually funny,because the reason why they had said that they started to date interracially,because there were no black men around them or they couldnt find a black man with the same educational attainments.They dont like dating dudes who arent as successful as they are.

To be honest, I think this has a lot to do with the men. White men find it easier to go after bi-racial women and think that there's less chance of them being turned down.

 

That's a fair criticism, black women shouldn't have to downgrade their standards just because they prefer to date a successful man. If they want a well-educated man, for example, and there aren't any black men around who match that expectation, then they should feel free to pursue men of other hues.

I think availability has a ton to do with attraction. The more diverse your environment, the more diverse your options. However, if you are in a predominately white or black or other town (workplace, school); chances are you will be attracted to someone there, regardless of your ethnicity.
The divergence seems to be with how folks behave and how they "say" they behave. That probably has to do with family, cultural identity and fear of friend's opinions. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

Of course, for those of us who have embraced the fact that we are attracted to other ethnicities, availability is not the issue, we have the internet and we are free to seek out those to whom we are attracted to our hearts content. Freedom is in the mind.

i see alot more bw dating white men especially in the larger cities...i will say that the majority of those couples appear to be middle class+ in reference to education and earning potential...on the flipside of dating relationships it would appear that many wm look to bw for the fantasy sexual experience...for those of you that find craigslist entertaining wm troll this site in almost every major city in the us looking for sex with bw...i doubt that these men are finding the bw we are talking about that seeks a relationship with wm

I think there's a combination in there. I do think black women clearly dominate the voice of black culture, but Flaming's right that this does not mean this is not a hypocritical voice.

For my own part, I see many kinds of interracial couples, but that's because most of my friends of all races date & marry interracially.

I think that black women & white men who seriously date and marry are great allies to white women & black men who do the same. The ones who brag about the concept are the ones to look out for.

I think White men are attracted to Black women it's just that 1) they assume Black women aren't attracted to them and wouldn't date them and/or 2) they can't relate to them (music, culture, interests etc.). Of course, many White men do date Black women and openly admit that they would.

I once read an interesting article online about Eurocentric standards of beauty when it comes to Black women, I don't know how much truth there is to it. The article stated that both Black men and White men have Eurocentric standards of beauty when judging Black women but these standards are expressed differently. White men like Black women who are thin, have a non-ghetto personality and whose features aren't too 'ethnic' but they care less about skin color. Black men prefer Black women who are thick and curvy, have urban attitudes/mentalities but they also prefer BW who are light skinned.

Again, I think a lot of it has to do with not being able to relate to them, assuming that they wouldn't be interested in them and loyalty to their own people. I don't see why BW/WM relationships are any less 'sexy' than BM/WW relationships are (or BM-BW/WM-WW relationships, for that matter). I don't see why Black men are considered more 'masculine' than White men and I've never thought that BW were less 'feminine' than WW are.

Just because you don't see WM/BW out in public doesn't mean they aren't fucking like 9000.
