    Pop star Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon celebrated their first year of marriage with a party at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas last night.
    It proved an emotional evening for the singer, who cried tears of joy as her husband surprised her with a video of special moments from their last 12 months together.

    'This is the most amazing person in the world,' Nick told party-goers as he paid tribute to his wife.

    'I dedicate my life to her daily, and together this union is gonna last forever. She is my rock.' Mariah, 40, gushed in response: 'I have the best man in the whole wide world.'

    Nick, 28, was deejaying at Moon Nightclub, America's People magazine reports, with Mariah playing the supportive wife as she cheered him on.

    The couple married in a surprise ceremony in the Bahamas after just a month of dating.

    It was the first marriage for Nick, who had broken off his engagement to supermodel Selita Ebanks just seven months earlier.

    Mariah was previously married to former Sony Records mogul Tommy Mottola, before divorcing in 1998.

    Nick recently denied reports his wife was pregnant, insisting the couple wanted to enjoy being newlyweds before they started a family.

    He said: 'I think what it is, the public really wants us to have kids. We're going to do it and when we do it we're going to let you all know. But right now, we're trying to enjoy the newlywed aspect.'

    I can't believe its already been a year.

    As odd as this couple may seem, I actually see them sticking together for quite some time.

    I'm glad everything has worked out well for the both of them.

    That's what he's saying. Hard to believe that it's one year, but my guts is telling me that they won't last longer.

    Kinda weird seeing them together. I remember seeing him on All That back in like 99, and would never see this coming.

    I'll top that. I remember seeing Mariah throughout the 90s decade and I could never see this coming either. Her being married to a black guy that is.
