More Disney talk

Can anyone name a character in their feature length animated films that was black/African etc. I'm not talking about a black person as the voice of one of the characters...I mean a hero on screen with black skin?


East Asian = Mulan
South Asian = Jasmine/Aladdin
European/White = Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, etc.
Native American = Pochantas
South American = "Road to Eldorado" - virtually every character

 

Uhmm I can't recall any, which does seem a bit terrible.

I know it's not animated but I do remember the Zippedy Doo Dah song, with the old guy singing.

Are there any African Characters in human form?

I remember the crows out of dumbo, but like you said, they were just voices.

Well I have not seen that one, which is probably why I missed it. lol

But seriously just ONE! that's bad.

Maybe there is a problem in Disney.

 

Chosen you should write to Disney and post that question to them so they know people notice.

 

Disney is fully aware. This has been an ongoing conversation with parents for some time. Their big deal now is the upcoming new black Disney princess.

 

I should but considering I'm going to be interning there next fall...LOL...that is kind of ironic come to think of it

Disney has not been putting out animated films with black people, but I can recall two live action movies with a black boy and a white girl.

One of them is Up, Up and Away.

The other one actually has a kissing scene, and it is called Don't Look Under The Bed.

There might be more, but I don't watch that channel.

 

In their animated features, no but they do have Raven Symone in That's So Raven, and Cory in the House....
All Disney channel stuff

 

Besides the two mentioned, the only other one I can think of is "American Legends," where one of the stories is John Henry, and the whole thing is narrated by James Earl Jones.
