It's interesting you brought up the musical interests of WM because I've known quite a few white guys who loved hip hop and r&b, but never dated a BW. I see other WM who seem to be familiar with hip hop culture, but usually tend to date WW. I'm not implying that there aren't any wm/bw couples out there, but personally, I do believe they're more WM that don't consider a BW's physical features to be attractive in comparison to how WW feel about the physical features of BM. Of course most BW aren't even attracted to WM. Maybe the masculinity/femininity dynamic I keep hearing about has something to do with this, but I'm not too sure.

It's the power balance. Some people go into a relationship wanting a more even balance, with comraderie and peace and all that. Others are specifically seeking a relationship where one person has authority over the other. Within that group, both Black Women and White Men want to be the one in authority, the one who has more control, who wins the arguments, who gets their way, the one that doesn't have to compromise. I'm not saying that's all WM or BW, but amongst those people who are looking for a relationship where one person is in charge, WM & BW both tend to want to be that person, which doesn't put them in a hurry to date each other.

That being said, I've known many many many BW / WM couples who were happy together, and had good relationships. They found each other specifically because they did not have the hangups I'm describing.

I think this is partly why the WM & BW who have the biggest problem with WW and & BM who date also tend not to date each other, because it is about control & ownership for them.

Yeah, I've noticed that some WM and BW talk about WW/BM like we're nothing but property sometimes. That's an interesting observation.
