It's kinda complicated as far as sizes go 'cause in most places I can fit a size 8 (UK) jeans and in the next place they won't go past my thighs! I found it weird in the US 'cause I fit into a size 6 (UK) jeans, maybe clothes over there are made bigger. Size 8 over there is huge on me.

    yes sizes are too complicated

I check a lot and most i find that a size 8 in australia is mostly a size 4 in US

not easy to say what size i am so its safe to say from size 0 to 4:p
depands on the clothes. maybe my bet is more to size 2

Ahhh I'm actually a US 4-6 apparently. Some sites say a UK 8 is a US 6, others say it is a US 4. CONFUSING! There should just be one worldwide system.

But yeah Nyx, it's annoying. Some shops the sizes are really small, others they are really big. I've just started trying everything on because you never know if it will fit or not. Nothing worse than buying some new clothes online or whatever to find out they don't fit!

    Right!

Manufactures in the States decrease the clothing size issued on the label in order to make many Americans feel like they are not gaining weight. It is based on the theory, women will become depressed if they move from a, shall we say, size 8 to a size 10. So, they label the size 10, size 8 and, the size 8 now becomes a size 6. This enables the American woman to shop more and, don’t leave the dressing room feeling rather upset due to their increase in size. American men’s clothing is no exception to rule either for I used to walk with tape measure when I first arrived to the States. It is not uncommon for Europeans to buy clothing that is one or even two sizes smaller when shopping for US brands.

I am familiar with girls offering a small waist, having hips, thighs or, buttocks that restrict them from pulling up their jeans. Those girls do not fall into the category I would consider petite. Such a body type is more towards a pear shape, which is not my cup of tea however, very popular with a lot of blokes who frequent this forum.

    Cheers!

This message is for the person who took it upon them selves to leave a negative reply however, did not have the courage to sign it. :smt080 You would have had more credibility if you challenged my comments I was explaining to SarahS. Unfortunately, being very immature you had no other choice but to express you thoughts by leaving negative yet, could not explain why doing so without looking as if your emotion has gotten the best of you.

Nonetheless, you might find this most interesting…

She's not thin by any means. 120? There's at least 140-150 on this body. Young European fashion models are what's thin...

150? Really. She doesn't look it. I'm 150. She doesn't look like she equals in weight to me.

Lol... I can pull up my jeans! I'm not petite but not a pear shape either. Anyway, yeah, I think this is going on in the UK too though. I tried on a size (UK) 10 in Gap once and they actually fell right down and the size 8 was baggy too, same in Zara. It's not even flattering, just bloody annoying. :smt095

Not really sure why someone gave you negative rep for that. Thanks anyway, helpful to get advice from someone who has experience in the UK and USA as far as shopping is concerned.

I take it you are into blind dates for I don't see how a date would come about with a person you do not find physically attractive.

I was not referring the pear shape or the inability pulling up your jeans towards you. I was merely giving an example of what I have seen with girls I've experienced in the past. ;)

I haven’t shopped in Zara in years. The last time I purchased an item in Zara was a sweater and, it offered a fit like French Connection. However, I can relate to the Gap sizing. Did you know the Gap, Banana Republic & Old Navy are the same company?

The Gap & Banana Republic rotate their styles amongst one another as well.

Companies that offer clothing around the globe usually find it difficult to cater for various markets unless it is a special line aimed only for one type of demographic. It is just not cost effective especially in these global economic times.

As for my friend who gave me a present, it goes to show you how a person’s life revolve around a message board. To become utterly upset by a person they were never formally introduced to, much less know nothing about other, than a screen name and a British flag, shows how much friends they have outside of cyber world.

I frequent here leisurely. Apparently the gift barer does not. 8)

    Cheers!

Just giving you a hard time cuz you said UK 8 was your limit. If you're attracted to a woman and she's on the borderline between 8/9 you'll have to bust out the tape before moving further. Or break off the relationship after a big meal.

    Fair enough! :)

Emma Watson's body is a prime example of the type of girls I date 90% of the time. A non-voluptuous body is what I fancy.

I do lose a lot of opportunities for being so picky. However I rather be classed as very selective than lead the girl on which, I know will never amount to anything other than having a platonic friendship.

    Cheers!

In my bachelor days you and I would have made good runnin' buddies cuz we would have never stolen or fancied each others women.
