Emma, what do you draw with? Pencils? Ink? Both? You have some fantastic contrast, I must learn your secret so I can steal it. >.> Your rendering is amazing, too, btw! I'm trying to upload a couple of my new stuffs, but I don't know if this internet will hold long enough. We'll see! Mostly just comic book stuff, though.
Ok, had a few minutes online so I got some stuff uploaded, so I figured I'd share it with ya'll first. Haven't even got it in my gallery yet! ...kinda an experiment. Not sure how I feel about it, but the colors are pretty at least. This is my original comic book character, Seraph. My boyfriend as John the Baptist, a la Caravaggio. Nowhere near as perfect as the original, of course, but I ran out of time to smooth out all the problems. It's still an interesting concept, at least, I think! This copy is horrible, though. The real painting looks much less...crappy. *L* Not as muddy and rough, more smooth. But the camera I took this with was crap. Seraph again, different style. I like this one, and am planning on perhaps styling the book around this picture if I ever manage to get the drawings done.
lol oh those raps I've put on here are just silly little things. I do sleep, sometimes! I'm one of those weird "Jill of all trades" types, when it comes to the arts. Writing (poetry, stories, books, songs, scripts for live action/animation, etc), Music (singing, rapping, a very minute amount of composing, mixing, etc), Art (painting, drawing, sculpting, experimental, etc)....I even act a lil bit, too. *L* I'm studying Media Arts and Animation, so I also do some video work and have two documentaries I'd love to do someday if I can ever get the fundage. But gimme a Calculus book and I'mma look at you like you're fucking crazy I guess I've just been blessed with super creativity! I'm sure all my imaginary friends I had when I was a kid would back me up on that. Hunter, Dex, thanks! Though I hope the files don't look as horrible as they do on this computer I'm using right now. On mine, where the settings are optimum for displaying all of my CG work, these images looked nice. But on this public computer they look waaay too saturated and horrible! Hmm. Speaking of cg...I should put up some of my 3d models on here. I got a B- in my Modeling I class, I'm quite proud!
Good work I like the Tyrese oen a lot The only art I do is modelling but I already posted a few pics in the photo thread haha
Aha, the charcoal explains it then. Your work is absolutely lovely. Ever tried selling your portraits? I'd certainly pay ya to draw me if I had money. But I'm poor. But maybe someone who isn't poor would pay you! You ever work with pens? Your grasp of contrast would lend well to work with ink. I like doing a mixture of ink and pencils. It leads to some nice pictures sometimes!
I'm actually tempted to use one of your poses as a comic book pin up reference. Would you mind? I love the Tyrese one. But I just plain love Tyrese, so that's why. haha.
Now for the oft mentioned fruits of my 3dsMax labour. My orchids were a hit with the teacher. I was so proud, because she said that out of all the flowers we did (that was the assignment, flower in a space) I got mine closest to the original. Made me feel so goooood considering how much I struggled when I first started working in 3d. Bender from Futurama. More than a bit off, but I really really didn't want to make him for some reason. Love the show, love the character, but making him got on my damn nerves so I got lazy. Some of you might have heard me bitching about making this in the chat room. Another view Annnnd another. This was an inside joke. Our Modeling I teacher loves using the teapot in examples, but it's just a standard primitive, basic shape you can make in like two seconds. So I took this render shot to show her the pink (her favorite color) teapot on the stove...It got me a B- in the class, which was up from an F at midterms, so I think she liked the teapot. Last, but not least, my final project. I heard she loved it, but I was still recovering from surgery and had to miss the final class. -_- And if you're curious as to exactly what the hell these pictures are...they are renders of models that I've built in 3d Studio Max. Basically 3d objects I've built on my computer, along with some basic lighting and textures to make them look nicer, though that wasn't required. I haven't hit the advanced lighting and textures classes yet, so my work isn't extremely impressive, but it's much, much harder to build in a 3d environment than most people realize. The pictures I posted are what happened after 11 weeks of intense practice and very hard work. Can't wait til my stuff gets all professional looking. It's so exciting!
