Did you ever experience domestic violence growing up in your household?

I don't think you can simply 'deal' with it..

at some point, that shit has to be nipped in the bud

Police, restraining orders, and a good ass whooping are usually required.

DH got the right idea. And ass whooping if needed. My dad and his brothers wrecked their mom's boyfriend when he was getting too slap happy. Let that fool know they weren't to be fucked with and would beat that ass and throw some more hands if he showed up again. I think my dad said he never did show up again.:smt062

    No.
But my dad works in a organization that deals with domestic violence and immigration issues.
Personally I've seen many domestic violence cases when at work, there were some horror stories when beating degenerated in sequestration or even murder.Kids involved also:(
From my experience most of this men who take such pleasure in torturing their families act very cowardly when police approaches them.
    They make me sick.

It's so sad that so many of us have stories about DV. :(

I never lived with it but my sister was a victim of DV in her first marriage.

Yeah. My mum had a prick of an ex boyfriend, to put it nicely. She has a hole in her head now from one of the times when he beat her up.
The dude died a few years ago in a car crash and it's not nice to speak ill of the dead, but he was a horrible man.

Yes my mom's ex husband and father of her 3 other children is an abusive alcohol addict. He usually let it out on me,"the bastard" because I was 1)not his biological child and 2)my dad and my mom hadn't been married. When I was 15 they finally divorced though and the nightmare ended :)

In my house, my mom is the one instigating the fights. (at least, in my eyes)

There have been plenty of times where she would hit my dad, bite him and curse loudly all at once.

    They are still married.

Growing up, I saw a lot of fighting and screaming between my parents.

My dad is the kind of guy that is more passive and non confrontational. My mom is the exact opposite and is very controlling.
