Not trying to start a flame war. But Southern culture disgusts me (just my personal opinion). And I like snow way too much to move down there. If you like the South, then cool. But I would rather move to somewhere like Michigan.

    The only 2 places(maybe 3) id move to,if i absolutely had to are Atlanta,New Orleans,& Florida

Btw,what do you mean by "southern culture"?

If you are an African American saying that southern culture "disgust" you, then thats dumb, because a quarter of AA culture comes from the south.

That is just a quarter. The 75% must come from elsewhere. And BTW, I don't like every single aspect of AA culture either. And southern culture pretty much means the culture of the states that lie south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Ive known for a long time that Georgia is a hub for African American excellence. According to numerous studies by social scientists, Harlem is slowly but steadily, being displaced by Atlanta as the mecca of black America. Due to urbanization, a relatively stable job market, decent home prices and relatively low taxes, many African Americans are leaving the Northeast and West and moving down south, most notably to the city too busy to hate. I've been there quite a few times myself and i gotta say it's pretty nice out in the ATL metro area.

Having said that, Atlanta and Charlotte are pretty much the only Southern cities that i would even consider living in. (That's kinda ironic given that i live in Miami which is technically on the Southern coast of the country, but for some reason Florida isnt seen as "Southern" per se!). I've been thinking seriously about moving back up North for the longest, and i've actually been working towards it, literally and figuratively. Home prices are insane here in Miami, and as the housing bubble has burst, we've been especially hit hard. Florida has the third highest per capita foreclosure rate in the U.S. and is among the top five states in terms of expensive home sales. The condo i bought with my fiancee a couple of years ago has literally lost its value ever since we've put in on the market and i've been eyeing the job market in the Northeast corridor as the job prospects are lucrative. Moreover, my fiancee might be getting moved to her company headquarters in Northern Va. and we've been thinking about making a permanent move. Im not really interested in buying property in S. Florida anymore and am looking at Virginia, Maryland or New Jersey.

Hopefully, i'll be able to make a move soon.

What the hell is up with that page? I'm a staunch liberal from Cleveland, which I feel is much more segregated than some cities in the South. I moved here to find a job because it was extremely difficult to find one in OH. There are so many northerners down here you can't swing a dead cat without hitting twenty. I'd say give it ten years and you will see great change in the South. The state of Florida is already OH/NY Part 2.

And there's a reason you're living in PHX and not Detroit correct???

    I thought so.

I came out here in PHX to go to school, and I got used to it. Been here for 9 years. I go to DTW sometimes to visit my family, bur I can't see myself going back to live. Ain't nothing there for me. Plus, I'm starting to get my pick of the Caucasian and Latin honeys.

Plus, it's just depressing. I've been trying to get out of the "D" mentally, back when I was 10. LOL. See, unlike many of my schoolmates, I knew there was a life outside of 'urban America' and beyond 'da hood'. esp. since our neighborhood wasn't hood.

When my family moved to the 'burbs, it was nice. When I went off to college and my little sis started h.s., folks from the "D" started moving out and some kids used relatives addresses so that they can attend school out there. They brought that hood mentality with them.

I'm getting my production company off the ground, but I have a hell ov a better chance here, than there.
