saw the preview..definitely looks over the top..Beyonce is producing ,I assume...that woman can't act.

I like the Power from the late 70's and 80's just for the nostalgia effect.Luke Cage was a rip off of the blaxploitation from the 70's but I like him in a weird way.
They tried to revive several times over the years but the original was my favorite.

 

I find it unbelievably depressing that there are guys here who view Obsessed as a positive thing. It plays up just about every stereotype about white women who are interested in Black men. It encourages the viewer to root for the white devil's demise. It's damned near a hate movie against white women interested in Black men.

It doesn't portray IR. It portrays a white woman obsessed with a Black man she can't have, and the strong Black woman who defends him.

Why in the hell would anyone in IR see this as positive? Because a white woman onscreen finds a Black Man attractive? Is that how low we're setting the bar?

This movie is designed specifically for an audience that hates IR, and will root for the death of the white woman who dared take an interest. And this is something to look forward to?

It's like saying Birth of a Nation was great, because at least it got Black people on the screen.

 

Good points...but, what I'm interested in is will there be hott IR sex scenes between Idris and Ali??? Most of the time Hollyweird punks out on hott BM/WW sex scenes. The best I've seen (other than porn) was between Jim Brown and Raquel Welch in 100 Rifles...which was made back in '69 -- that's right back in '69!

BTW, the main producers of this flick are Black: Will Packer & Rob Hardy...they are based out of the ATL.

That's....that's kind of not good. So, so long as there's hot lovin onscreen, everything else is okeydokey?

Regardless, I doubt anything will be hot about any sex scene. This is a movie about a white woman who wants a Black man who does not want her back. Rumour has it that any "sex" in the movie comes as the result of her drugging him.

Spike Lee made a movie that he admitted was designed to dissuade people from IR, a literal propaganda film against IR. People here found the sex scenes hot. Does that make it a "win"?

 

Kid,my fave IR love scenes are by Mario Van Peebles and Wesley Snipes. They maybe B flicks but,in my opinion they are the best.

give us a real IR movie...

ALTHOUGH, i think one of the better portrayals of a white women with a black guy, was in 'Conviction,' starring Omar Epps. The white girl he meets in the movie, turns out to be very supportive of him, going from ex-convict to an outstanding member of the community. Very positive role indeed. The movie was only on cable tho, and didn't hit the big screen.

 

At least they got a fine white woman playing the part this time. The blue eyed blonde who goes dark is definitely not par for the course.

 

This movie looks retarded.

I'm still gonna see it.

Just not at the theaters. I'll wait til it comes out on DVD.

Yup... At this point I'll take the heating up of the screen over all other aspects of the flick. Hollyweird always dorks out on hott BM/WW IR sex scenes.
