naked at the gym?

I've recently joined a gym here that has separate spas (hot tub, steam room, sauna) for men and women. I've talked to few friends about going naked in the spa and they said they do, but they are also all men. No one at the gym could confirm whether or not it's taboo. I decided to go naked in the spa today and I thought it was great. If you attend a gym, what do you do?

 

When I go into the sauna at my gym, I have a towel wrapped around me.

 

Where is the naked gym? Sign me up please.

not bothered going in the spa bit at my gym but most wear swim suits and those that dont wear a towel

 

i used to manager a spa, salon & healthclub bean and naked in a non coed area is perfectly acceptable...i will tell you what is not acceptable: shaving in the tub, putting bubble bath or oil in the tub, not showering before you get in the tub, having dry hair when entering the tub and then sinking your head into the tub (too many hair products leave a film in the tub)

i will also say that having worked there 4 years i never got in the tub...our members were disgusting...not all the chemicals in the world would have convinced me to get in that tub unless i was the first one in it after it had been drained...scrubbed and refilled...

Great advice, thank you! My gym is small and has many more male members than female (I think it's the "gay" gym) so I'm not terribly concerned about the women's spa being disgusting. In fact, I rarely see any women using the spa.

My friend used to work at an all gay male gym, and he avoided the hot tub there like the plague. He used to call it The Cum Cauldron.

 

Each gym has their own policies based on the type of members who attend. Your gym is predominately gay, so you may not be in harm parading around naked. If your gym was more balanced, things may have been different.

Only one gym I attended offered a steam room. The policy was and I quote “You must keep your towel on at all times.” There was even a plaque stating the policy right next to the sliding door to entering the steam room. I would imagine some would, break that rule if they were in the steam room all alone. However, it was not allowed to be stark naked in the steam room. This gym offered two steam rooms based on gender.

Personally, I don’t believe in being stark naked around people I don’t know. What your friend told you is true about “Cum Cauldron” for, I heard some stories myself from other members who frequent the steam room.

I would suggest asking other members in your gym their experience entering such rooms naked. That will hold more weight than what anyone can tell you here unless they attend the same gym as you.

Thats what I was thinking. I wont go naked in those spots, not because I am modest but because I question the sanitation.

If you are going naked into the spas, please bring a towel to sit on.

I was staying at a hotel in Europe and went downstairs for a workout. It was late night/early early morning and a man got on the stationary bike next to me butt ass naked. I was sorta freaking out as it was just him and me in there. Then a couple comes in, naked too. It was a clothing optional gym. :smt087

I believe there may be things we ingest that are equally less sanitary, if you think about it. I don't mind going naked. Perhaps I'm more of a free spirit than I once thought.

The clothing optional gym is friggin hilarious. Would be kind of annoying with sweat being free to run down your body and not catching in your clothes though.

 

I can laugh now, but at the time it was disturbing. LOL

Imagine a guy on the treadmill and hearing that slap, slap, slap. Or someone bending over to pick up some free weights. :smt103

I'd never attend my gym/spa bellybutton nude, not because it may be taboo, but because it would be considered, a showoff.

 

I'm not aware of there being clothing optional gyms here in the US.
