    Should it?

Anyway,i hope they fix the judicial system somehow

    YES !!!!!!

"Marijuana does not appear to be a gateway drug to the extent that it is the cause or even that it the most significant predictor of serious drug abuse; that is, care must be taken not to attribute cause to association": Institute of Medicine, in a 1999 National Academy of Sciences report called "Marijuana as Medicine: Assessing the Science Base

"If cannabis were unknown and bioprospectors were suddenly to find it in some remote mountain crevice, its discovery would not doubt be hailed as a medical breakthrough.Scientists would praise its potential for treating everything from pain to cancer, and marvel at its rich pharmacopeia many of whose chemicals mimic vital molecules in the human body." : The Economist, April 27,2006

"Overall, by comparison with other drugs used mainly for "recreational" purposes, cannabis could be rated to be a relatively safe drug... In contrast, cannabis might have beneficial effects in some medical indications... It seems likely that medical cannabis will re-enter the pharmacopeia": Leslie Iversen, pharmacologist at Oxford University and member of the British government's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, "Long-term effects of exposure to cannabis," Current Opinion in Pharmacology,2005

Actually, it's much better for you than alcohol, and there have been links between marijuana use and cancer prevention, though it's a bit hard to study considering the illegal nature of the plant.

It should be legalized. It's about personal choice and freedom. Individuals should be able to medicate themselves however they wish

Does it matter? Have any of you even read the original legislation which made marijuana a banded substance? It's a joke and wasn't even the Marijuana Law in the beginning. It got renamed later. But no, dope will NEVER be legal in this dumb ass country because the politians and powers on the right will always keep the drug cartels in business. Hell, even Congressman Ron Paul, a doctor, thinks it should be legal and is smart to note that alot of the social problems which presumably come from its criminalization are actually do to many other factors.

I should include that I'm for the decriminalization of marijuana where a certain amount can be smoked in designated areas like in Canada. But it doesn't matter 'cause people smoke dope in their basement all the time anyways.;)

no, no, no. Only used for medical reasons. I would make alcohol and cigarettes illegal too.

Most people don't care enough to do the research. What annoys me the most is the fact that racism was a driving force in the road to the criminalization of marijuana, yet no one seems to realize this. The fact that any law that was passed because "It makes white women look upon Negro men with lust, and makes darkies think they're as good as white men" (paraphrased) and is still on the books today is infuriating to me.

We've been so bombarded with negative propaganda concerning marijuana that far too many people believe it's a dangerous drug, when there's been no scientific proof that it's actually harmful, and most people who have smoked it would agree it's far less harmful than other drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol.

It's just a bunch of bullshit that keeps it illegal, because no one wants to admit that the pussies in Washington would actually pass laws for the wrong reasons.

So I'll just keep on smoking my good, and lusting after black men because weed makes me do it, according to those most influential in the criminalization of marijuana.

There are studies that "prove" marijuana is harmful and studies that "prove" the opposite. Because of it's questionable (at best) benefits, I think it should stay illegal and frankly think that some of the substances we commonly, legally use today should be made illegal if the goal is to make Big Brother control our lives completely because we are incapable of making rational healthful decisions for ourselves.

Of course where would the line be drawn? Red meat? MSG? Alcohol, cigarettes, salt, wasabe?

Keep it illegal except for tightly controlled medicinal uses.

**Edit** I can post links to the studies from my university's library but I am far too lazy tonight.

I have no problem with people doing their thing, though. It just has no appeal to me.
If you're addicted to it, however, we're probably not going to be mates. :)
