I do things at my sons school including designing their last yearbook and also reading with kids that have reading trouble.

Also I volunteer visiting and making meals for cancer or other sick patients in their homes. I haven't done it lately as one of the ladies I did it for who had three children under 5 died from cancer and I don't know I think I was more attached to her than I realized and it just hit me hard when her husband said she died and she was only in her 30's.

I do volunteer work for children in helping them learn good study methods. I also do volunteer work in teaching children how to use application software in a children's computer studies class. When I get certified someday in getting the black belt I will teach children martial arts fitness and how exercise enhances their performance in academic school work. I want them to be warrior/scholars.

Weird and hot is what I continually strive for. I should start a thread on yoga.

When you share your time and abilities, it's perfectly justified to feel several things but "selfish" isn't one of them. ;)

    That's rough.

A volunteer isn't a medical professional, so there isn't going to be that cool detachment a doctor may have when a patient passes. It's normal to take a punch like that.

uh oh saty, i like that new avatar!

    let's see...
-i volunteered at a low cost clinic in norman called health for friends
-an organization called giddy up n go...you help disabled people ride horses to help them with balance therapy
-did some work with boys and girls club
-a nutrition program in my county that delivers food to the elderly (like meals on wheels)
-and i volunteered at my mom's school as a reading tutor

i should also mention most of these things are on going, just depends on my work schedule

If you don't, I will. Let me know because I would like to if you weren't serious.

I appreciate that so many of you take the time to volunteer. Over the years I've volunteered for community clean ups, worked as an assistant in a medical clinic for women, volunteered at political events in different capacities, run errands for homebound people in the neighborhood, and volunteered as a tutor in an English as a Second Language program. I currently work at a nonprofit and spend a lot of my time at work or working at similar organizations so there isn't much time right now for volunteer work outside my field. I think I might need to change that.
