Your explanation for southern Italians to be darker makes historical sense - the interaction with people from North Africa. The same explanation applies to people in Spain and Portugal who for centuries were ruled by North Africans. Anyone remember the movie El Cid?
Im not aware of any southern african emigration to south italy. Actually in the early 1900 people from 'il mezzogiorno' (a italian nickname to the south, it means 'midday' referring that from Rome to sicily it's always (almust) sunny.) emigrated to USA and other places. I never read or hear about a early 1900 immigration of southafricans in Italy. The only massive settling I am aware of, goes all the way back to Carthago, when they had colonyes in Sicily. Lot of people from Northafrica settled in that country. Later we had the Arabs, but actually few moors settled there, and the few who did, had the choice to convert to christianity or leave by the German Emperor. Otherwise, im not familiar with no emigration from africa to Italy in ancient and modern time (beside nowaday).
Well there is no gargathuan explanation about this, im just curius, I have always been into IR dating, I know how it feels like but I can only speak for myself, so Im interested to see how it works for other people. Why is that farboten? Beside we are OT....
well then I will have the honor to be the first. :smt109 And in the name of heaven why should I? With my crappy connection I spent almust two hour only for joining the site, and then I start trolling?????? Nah, I have respect and empathy....but do u know what? youll see ciao
You are welcome Thick. I know there is a site where WM and BM go but,I don't know if it still exists.
It's more about the italian immigrants to the states and how they were seen and how they were deal with. It's about the racial and cultural identity of the italians in USA over time. They couldn speak english and they were darker than the average white american. Same story over and over again. People who are different are always pushed aside and treat like second class people. Even the Irish who are white, had a wery hard time in the states in the last century.
G,I wished I know of that website. I know I had mentioned it in the past but I wonder if it's still on the web?
