http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090310/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_china_incident I wonder what the US government would think if Chinese warships were in international waters off the coast of San Diego. Who's "harassing" who?
They wouldnt do anything...theyre called international waters for that very reason. Whats youre beef?
America has no business being over in that region. We should be defending OUR waters, no one else's. They're trying to provoke and contain China. You don't go in someone else's neighborhood brandishing weapons claiming peaceful intentions.
1) While not quite an ally, china is a partner in crime...in regards to trade, and we are not trying to provoke nor "contain" them. Why we are there, tho, is a damn good question. (I dont buy the "mapping the ocean floor" excuse either.") 2) I do, however, believe the government when they say the the ship has no weapons on board. Thus it poses no threat to china when sailing in international waters. If china has a problem with whats agreed upon as international waters, then they need to take that up with the u.n....the n.a.a.w.r. (national association for the advancement of water rights), or who ever the hell youre supposed to complain to regarding international beefs.
Dex216 They are called international waters for a reason any country can sail there, furthermore recently Russia performed military exercises in the Caribbean. Our response was basically............and!
It's now come out that the US ship was hunting subs in the area. That sounds real peaceful  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090311/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/us_china_incident
Remember KAL 007? Provoking another nation is not a good idea. It is usually the innocent who pay for it.
Are we looking for a "good war"? It took the Second World War to get us out of the Depression. Maybe our enemies today can help us do likewise again. A good time while we are divided with a weak government.
