It's so fascinating and interesting to learn about how black men from South Africa settled in the southern regions of Italy (Sicily, Calabria, Naples) in the early 1900s and continued to be a significant part of Italian history during the 2nd world war( see Spike Lee's amazing film "Miracle at St. Annes) This fact explains why southern Italians have very dark physical features and also why I'm so strongly attracted to black African men!! Through the generations...my ancestory was where it began and there's no stopping it!! We do love 'em black & beautiful!!!! It's a natural attraction....most of my Italian fem friends are into bm..so I'm not alone. I think German and Scandinavian women are also attracted to black men. It looks like they are following as the Italian women lead:D

VVhere did you read this thing about South african ppl in south Sicily at the beginning of 1900????
I've studied immigration for a vvhile but I've never heard of it. :-S VVhat are the sources?
For vvhat I knovv, the first RELEVANT contact of italian pepple vvith black people vvas the colognization of Eritrea, Etiopia and Somalia (eastern Africa) from the end of the 1800 and on.
Some italians might have brought some black people as servants here, but I've never heard about anything different.
The first "black" immigration in Italy vvas made in the '70s by vvomen from Cape Verde (I think that's the english name).
The, in the '80s, men from other countryes for "seasonal" jobs.

I think it's uncorrect to say that southern ppl are dark because they directly come from african ppl. The reasons vvhy some southern people are very dark in the complexion, hair etc are 2:

    - vve are a mediterranean country, so it's inside our DNA to be different from scandinavian or northern ppl in general. Adaption to the vveather made us be like that.
    - southern Italy, Sicily in particular, had a heavy arabic colonization around 800 a.C.. Obviously the arabs came from northern Africa (and originally from arabic peninsula, opbviously) and some of them mixed vvith south-saharian africans as vvell.
The result is that some Sicilians, like my dad, look very arabic and of course they might have some black african blood inside too. The result is quite charming if you think that Sicily had a Norman invasion too (Normans is the general name of ancient Scandinavian ppl -vichings etc that spread around europe), so there are blond people vvith light eyes too, like my grandfather. My dad looks TALIBAN, and my grandfather looked SCANDINAVIAN lol.

As regards black soldiers in the VVVV2, it's interesting. I savv a documentary and they said that in Rome, after americans arrived here and slovvly from Sivily kept going to the north, vvomen gave birth to some black children, vvich indicates that some italian girl did like black guys already ;).

This is vvaht I knovv, bu tI might be mistaking, since vve never stop learning!
Let me knovv if you guys find out some other things.

I remember reading about relationships between U.S black soldiers fighting in Italy, and italian women in WW2.
That was everywhere though.Brothers were getting their swirl on in the U.K and alot of females birthed mixed children, but the soldiers were forced to return to the u.S without their children. There is a documentary on this and how they(mixed children) were trying to find their fathers oversees.

Thanks for the tip Italian Lady. I plan on watching the movie. I enjoy myself on all my recent trips to the southern part of Italy over the last two years (Naples, Persano, Bari, Taranto).

Beautiful women and very friendly. Where are you from?
