Troy Aikman, B.A. 2009, Sociology, UCLA. DALLAS – Troy Aikman's passing days didn't end when he retired from the Dallas Cowboys. The Hall of Fame quarterback says he's passed his two final college courses and will graduate in June from UCLA — 20 years after he left for the NFL. Congratulations to him. Too bad too many athletes aren't learning from him. I read a report in USA Today a couple of months back about the low graduation rate - and education attainment rate in general - of student-athletes, especially black ones and the numbers tell a shocking story. Even though there are a number of athletes like Vince Carter and LaDainian Tomlinson who graduate, they are in the minority. Here's hoping things will begin to improve.
