    ??

We're not an occupying force in Saudi Arabia, but there under the open invitation of the kingdom.

It doesn't matter. We should not be there, whether we were invited there or not. It's not our duty to defend Saudi Arabia or Israel or any other country in the world. Our military's only duty is to defend the American homeland.

    AMEN to that !!!!!!

I don't get it either. Why does America have to defend every country under the sun ?! We shouldn't be.

Not every country just the ones with oil (Iraq/Middle East) or drugs (Afghanistan/Colombia)

As much as the US think it's big, bad, and powerful, this country still relies on foreign imports and various resources.

You should be able to piece together why we stick our noses, in other people's business after understanding that

there's a good chance that you are enjoying, or have enjoyed something in the past, that was a product of our intervention, somewhere around the globe..

I know I'm just rewording what Karma wrote

Dex, T-bell, Serendipity, and S-dyck...hold your republican goblets high in the air for your daily dose of hater-ade.

But pace yourself because there's a four year supply on hand with your name on it.

They were attacking the US around the world since the 70's. We only went into Saudi Arabia in the 90's to prevent an Iraqi invasion. We should have let the Soviet Union have them. Do you think they will just stop attaching the US if we just withdraw from the Middle East and stop allying with Israel? We would love to withdraw from the Middle East. If they didn't have oil,the world would let it burn.

Militarily the US has always stuck their nose around other countries business and occupied other lands simply because someone needs to police the world. Right or wrong it's justified by our arrogance that we are the best and our way of life (democracy) is the best and we'll defend our way of living by ensuring other countries keep a certain way of life.

Similar to how complete chaos and anarchy would break out in your state if you had no police officers or any type of law enforcement the same would happen world wide and would have already if we never ever cared about what happened in other parts of the world, if we just defended our land and stated the hell with everyone else.

A perfect example of your state without law enforcement of any kind would be to look at afghanistan, where we have our eyes peering closer these days. It's ruled by war lords, huh! There's no governing body, the civil type of society we are accustomed to does not exist there. Someone can knock down your door, rape your wife and daughter take what ever they want and that's it, you live with that for the rest of your life. You are not going to the police, there isn't any.

Keep this in mind if we defended only our borders, the probablity of a nuclear attack on a country having happended would have increased quite a bit. What would stop those who want to conquer from trying to attack the US? How would we even know they were planning to attack without intelligence? Millions could perish.

The US is still a beacon of hope for millions around the world and comfort for a number of countries. Millions still want to come here to live the dream, those of us who's traveled abroad know we live a life many don't, have the freedoms many don't. Although we should have left Iraq long ago, the guy who threw the shoe at Bush was able to do so because of what we put in place. He's dead or in jail for years, his family is dead or his hands are cut off if he did that to Saddam, it's that type of freedom the US wants to protect or spread worldwide.

The flip side of all of this though is we are hated upon by many because, yes we stick our nose in your business, yes we are still arrogant even though this worldwide economic crisis happened because of our GREED, yes we say from time to time do as we say not as we do. No one wants to be told what to do, the truth of the matter is those that have the power rule the world.
