I know this is a long shot cuz 99.99 % of everyone here lives elswhere but is anyone going to the inauguration?

I live in Northern Virginia and I will be there bright and early. It will be a huge debacle with all the dozens of bridges and road closings.

    A coworker's family is..

and another coworker is going himself

More black people are going to show at this one, than at any other one, because of sheer interest in Obama.

As for myself, I have to work. I may watch bits and pieces online.

My mom wanted to go, but she didn't have the money to travel to DC and get a hotel room and such. I guess she'll watch it on TV like everyone else

Yours truly certainly is. Im at my sister's place in Fairfax County, which is around the Potomac and thus, not very far from all the action. Im here with my parents, fiancee and my twins and even though its cold as a mutha, i'm willing to put up with it just for this fabolous moment.

I want to be there, but I certainly don't have the money to. Plus I have class all day tomorrow (1-10pm) and I probably shouldn't miss them for something as silly as history being made.

However, you can bet your ass I'mma be glued to tv in the deli at school. I gotta go in at 8am to work on homework tomorrow morning, I'll be watching all the coverage on tv at intervals when I'm not working.

I am a high school teacher and we are all allowed to stream the inauguration in our classrooms. We couldn't talk about the election with the students because it was too controversial but it was acknowledged that more high school kids knew who was norminated and interested in the presidential election than at any other time in the schools history. My high school is extremely ethnically diverse with 20 countries being represented in my classroom. THIS IS AN EXCITING TIME!! Especially for those of us who don't remember JFK or MLK because we were too young (I born 1961)...SO WE WILL ALL BE THERE!!

I live in the MD, VA, DC area and will avoid the festivities at all cost simply because of the severe restrictions of how folks can maneuver around the area. I will watch on TV...

The restrictions are just inconveniences and they aren't enough to stop me. I am very excited about the inauguration. It's an amazing time in this country and an amazing time to be in the District. At a time when so many people for so many reasons needed it, the election of Obama has infused hope and a sense of empowerment. And you can almost feel it in the air here. So I'm getting my layers of clothing and comfortable walking shoes ready to wear tomorrow and can't wait to celebrate the inauguration of our new president. Gobama!

Well I got back home a few hours ago from the inauguration.

Man was my day long. My day started at 0140 hours and I didn't didn't get back home until 1930 hours. IT WAS GREAT THOUGH! It went by fast cuz we were so busy. I've never seen so many people in one location in my life. It was the most organized confusion program I was ever apart of.

COLD AS NUTS THOUGH. I was kitted-out w/ all the warm gear and still froze my ass off. Thank god no "serious" injuries happen and nobody got blown-da-fuck-up, including my black-ass. We did have to fuc some knuckleheads up though THAT WAS A BIG ADRENALINE RUSH!

Like I said, there no serious injuries but people were drop'n like bad habits. Many due to the cold weather. Felt bad for the girls from the high school parade bands. Those girls were wearing those skimpy-ass outfits; you know, the ones that look like thick panty-hoes. Those girls were falling out left and right and had to get rushed to medical. They were literaly freezing due to the LONG ASS DELAYS.

We had to break up fights w/ the band members cuz we they were all just standing there for like 2.5 hours just waiting. Dude just through his drumset down and got up in other dudes face and boom. Everybody was just getting edgy due to it being so cold and the delays.

All that being said though it was really cool being apart of history.
