I was flipping through the channels on sunday and nothing was really on after the playoff games, and do you know how when you flippin through the channels and you see soemthing or hear something that will catch your attention and make you flip back to it? Well that happened to me and it was bret micheals rock of love bus something ( I forgot the title.) he was talking with on of the girls on there and she had told him that can't rememember her exact words but basically she implied that she was attracted to and would bang edward norton's character in the movie American History X. Now if anybody remember in that movie he played a skinhead racist...Now you could argue it's just a movie, but STILL!! So the question is: Is it racist to have a crush on racist character in a movie?

Man, the bitch was probably just talking about how hot Norton looked when he was all buff (and he WAS hot. Dayum.) I doubt the character in question had much to do with it, and even if it did, well, in the end he -did- turn out to be a better person. Norton's character in the movie was fantastic. So much depth, very well written, and in the end he wised up and realized how fucking stupid he'd been. The actor, though..honey, I'd bang him in a second all buffed up the way he was in that flick, and I certainly don't think that's racist. The actor isn't the character, skinhead or not. I just figure she was more concerned with his looks than the swaztika tattoo he had.
i dont think it is necessarily portrayed as being racist. I believe she just liked the character on the movie because of his looks. I dont really know i guess unless she specifically said i liked the way he acted in the movie then i would consider her being rascist i guess.
She wasnt racist. she like the actor and the bad boy image/look he portrayed in that movie thats all. She wasnt being racist. She liked his badboy image :smt006
Well the way she said you can tell she wasn't talking about the actor as the reason why se mention that specific movie. And you can argue the fact that he changed in the end, but there was no mention of that from her. And I think it is racist, Im sorry your turned on by racist tattoos, or his bad boy image in the movie his bad boy image was displayed by bashing a black guy's into the side of the sidewalk. The way he looked in the movie is just like one of them jackasses. That would be just like saying when halle berry played a crackhead in the movie "Jungle Fever" to be attracted to her character would be saying you are attracted to crackheads. Same thing with Ed Norton's character in the movie American History X.
Ok maybe I need to see the way it was said, but I knwo a lot of friends who are into psychology and they explained to me how a lot of attraction between a man and a woman works. A lot of young women in our country go through the bad boy, forbidden/taboo phase here . They like things that represent danger and excitement. Ed Nortons character in that movie represented that. He was thisr fantasy man attitude wise in that movie . remember we live in a culture that encourages women liking the bad boy between their teens and mid 30's . Too much media out there with that thype of stuff here and it influences both men and women. As for the hally berry comment, we men are visual creatures. We like different things in our atraction view when we see someone ie looks. So of course were gonna like Hally in Swordfish or Xmen for her looks that most guys . women do really look for looks but also attitude and personality and other manly qualities as well.
Well, I wouldn't really call it a crush, but he's okay, I like movies he's in because he's in them. ;-)
Who the hell are you accusing of being turned on by racist tattoos? I certainly hope it's not me, cause if it is you need to reread what I wrote.
No, that was a response to artbunker saying that women go for the bad boys and I was basically saying if you are going for the bad boy with racist tattoos and and bashing black guy's head in the ground then you are racist, whoever goes for that type of bad boy that a skinhead is.
Not racist at all. Norton was the white equivalent of a thug in that movie and women LOVE thugs. I'm sure there are way more overt examples of so-called "racism" than this.
Yeah, definitely not racist to me either. She just thought he was hot, and to be honest. I love Ed Norton, but he looks so different from movie to movie (as do many other actors) that in some I don't find him as attractive as in others. I'm pretty sure it's the same with most people. Actors change their looks so often that you pretty much HAVE to mention a movie to explain what you liked about their look (especially white men :smt042 ).
I agree. It's a movie and Ed Norton is an actor.I've never seen the particlar movie mentioned here but maybe he just did a good performance and that's why the movie was associated to him. I don't know 100% but I doubt it was meant in racist way
