I do not curse a lot but sometimes I can understand the occasional F-bomb and the like. If I was talking with someone that did curse a lot, as in every sentence, I'd have to wonder why they are incapable of using other words. The message would be lost on me as I'd be so distracted by their limited vocab.
See, when a man is with his boys, I know they will use all kinds of language. But when you're with me, use the same kind of language you'd use at Mama's dinner table... doesn't have to be as proper as at the Buckingham Palace, but not bar talk either.
And also, I'm not being judgmental of anyone else, but I just really dislike curse words. I know there are situations that warrant them, but matter of fact explicit talk just bothers me. I go to the mass at church, and I love the beautiful words of prayers and the sermon, and I don't want to leave the church still hearing the final blessing in my ears, and all of a sudden be immersed in a whole different kind of talk. Just me.
Yeah, only around my friends though, and on the internet. I don't around random people. I feel shitty when I curse in front of hella people in public. But if I'm talking to some random persona and they curse, then I join right on in the fun. Wouldn't really bother me if my partner cursed a lot. Just as long as it's not hella in public and in front of my parents or something. Basically, cursing in the appropriate environment.
I'll try to cut back on the curse words. I'm still gonna say hella though. Been in Northern Cali too long to get that word outta my system.
Hella is okay. Let's call it a regional dialect expression. ...And the trash-talking little white dog in your avatar?
I have a fantastic vocabulary. I just like to swear Cussing gives off "I'm stupid" vibes, just like ebonics and other slang dialects. I don't entirely blame people for assuming, because it can make you look really stupid. I'm quite the exception, myself. People hear me conversing with my friends and they instantly assume I'm not bright because of all the slang I use. Then I get onto a good subject (like genetics! Great subject) and they'll look at me like "...where the fuck did that come from?!" I like surprising people. It's fun.
DITTO!! I don't mind a slip now and then from my guy, if he is surrounded during the day by others who speak this way, but I do expect him to recognize he slipped, and at least attempt an apology.
