The cast for this movie looks great.Im happy that they finally decided to add some ethnic actors to it as opposed to just white actors playing the asian parts

Damn, way to kill one of my favorite games. I'm gonna call it and say this movie will suck ass. All gamers know the history of game to film and film to games. I'm glad they got all Asians for the Kazama-Mishima Bloodline, and not having some white dude play them like fucking Goku in the upcoming DBZ movie.

Good cast. They look like they could play the characters, except the chick who is playing Christie since it's a white chick playing her. But there is one problem. WHERE THE FUCK IS HWOARANG!!!???? He's Jin's rival n' shit. He should have some part in the movie. They put Raven's unimportant ass in there.

All I got to say is the guy they cast to play Eddie Gordo (Lateef Crowder) is the truth!

darrin henson is suppose to be playing raven

Yeah, Snipes was the influence for Raven. It would be badass for Snipes to actually play him.

Copeira (sp?) is a very beautiful and graceful art to watch in motion. I first found out about that style when watching "Only the Strong," with Mark DaCassos (sp?). The moves he did in the film were sick. It's not for everybody tho because of the athleticism required for it, as you can imagine. When's the last time you did a back flip, lol.

I agree. Though I know I'll be nowhere near as skilled as this guy, one of my goals for this year is to start learning capoeira.

Capoeira is apparently practiced by more people than I realized. Wesley Snipes is one as well as the guy (Joey Ansah) who played the character "Desh" in the Bourne Ultimatum. Looking back on it, he performed a couple of capoeira-esque moves in his fight with Matt Damon.

I saw the film you mentioned (Only the Strong) years ago and found it interesting. But it was only recently that my interest in capoeira was piqued. In fact, it was from seeing Lateef Crowder in a film called "The Protector". He was in it for only 1 scene but it was a scene that left a lasting impression on me. None of the clips of this scene I found on youtube have good resolution but check it out...

Wesley snipes is a physical actor, so I could see him doing something like that. I loved his martial arts in the Blade Trilogy. Let's not forget his fighting in "Passenger 57."

    :)

As for Capoeira itself, in Philly I don't know of too many locations. I am pondering the idea of going into Aikido, during the weekends and my days off from work. There is a Maxercise location downtown that offers judo, muay thai, and jiu-jitsu as well, that I've been looking in to. I'm a physical guy after all. Use it while you're still young, right.

not to hijack the thread, but this is a clip of Donovan Waite, one of the instructors of the Aikido center in Philly

I was surprised to see a brotha, so far in to that art.

As much as I like the Tekken games I have a feeling that the movie will be awful.

The Mario Bros.: “What is your name? ‘Mario Mario.’ What is your name? ‘Luigi Mario,’” the jumping shoes, and the mushroom that enlarged to protect Mario.

Street Fighter: Jean Claude Van Dam as Guile and the character concept of Ryu and Ken (are they fake gun traders?).

Mortal Kombat: The first one was crazy and the second film was terrible.

Dead or Alive: Yes, they made a movie about this game. I haven’t seen it, yet from looking at the trailer it is an awful movie.

The first mortal kombat was hype as sh1t. I remember the theme song being used everywhere.

Street fighter did blow, as much as I like Jean Claude and his athleticism.

For real. No matter how much people talk bad about it, the first Mortal Kombat was the shit. Classic. Me and my friends used to knock the trunk with the theme song.

Damn skippy. I saw the first Mortal Kombat in the theater twice. Money well spent.
