Neither, generally I like longish style dreadlocks/artistic looking.

I definitely don't like any hint of homeboy, whatsoever . So long as he has his own style.

    My man is rast.

My man is a bit of both. He is a professional, but both of us grew up in the city and have lot of city attiude. He will wear jeans and a cap sometimes, but not very. I guess generally for a "good time" and not seriuos urban, but for a relationship suburban.

I also agree with the poster above me. Love dreads and have HUGE weakness for the Jamaican men. :D

Yeah, I mean I don't really define a man by what they do but more the style- you can find a bit of red, yellow and green under some of those suits!..conflict of interest, well yeah, but a man's gotta eat!

I never sought out the dreads in any way, but found somehow I clicked better with these types of guys, more laid back/creative attitude sometimes, although you can't necessarily generalise.

 I understand that these are generalizations, but the question is slightly unfair.

A cat like me can go from street-urban, to refined-urban, to preppy-urban, to professional and back again in a matter of 24hrs.

...and I wouldn't necessarily classify Omar Epps and Taye Diggs as suburban. I'd give them the "refined-urban" label. Meaning they're too mature to have their pants down too their knees, but they have a "urban" look that's more refined, taylored, and mature. Perhaps rocking some Ed Hardy, True Religion, or Russell Simmons.

...not the "tender-sandal-wearing-in-freezing weather-with-cargo shorts" look of the actual "suburban" types.....

...I think Sarah probably gets my point.

What I would do to Taye Diggs is probably illegal...

I'll wear an old school jersey, some Tims etc....or go Kanye West and get a nice button down with the white casual sneakers.

My "style" is a black wool/cashmere blend, 3/4 length coat with a black cotton turtleneck, a silver chain around my neck, dark blue relaxed fit but not overly baggy jeans and black dressy boots. Not Timberlands but not cowboy boots. The type of boots that look like dress shoes and rise up a little past your ankle. I'd top it off with a nice hat...preferrably a fedora or a Kangol if I must....a silver watch...and black leather gloves if it's cold outside.....I wore this yesterday...everything except the hat!

I understand what you are trying to get at, but when I seperated Urban and Surburban it definately wasnt just all about dress.

You say you can "switch it up in 24 hrs", alot of people can do that to some extent but what ever they identify more with (urban or surburban etc.) will come out in their mannerisms in no time.

For example---even though this doesnt exactly relate to this thread you can take a relatively intelligent thug and put him in a suit and maybe that thug can even switch it up enough to be polite and "mainstream" enough to get along in an office job but his true mannerisms will still at least some what be there and come out at the end of the day in my opinion.

BTW - I agree Omar Epps is a little more refined urban I could have used a better example but Taye Diggs is definately more Surburban in my opinion.

LIke I said we are both generalize a bit of course.

Asking the Ladies their preference in terms of “Personality” would have been more appropriate under such a questionnaire.

A Man can look the part however, their true colours will always show despite the article of clothing he chooses to sport on that given day.

There are Men that must wear a certain artical of clothing based on their work environment. His character however, may not co-inside with the outer appearance he projects in society once his work is completed for the day.

There are Gentlemen, Rebels & some who fall in between both characteristics. It is those characteristics that symbolise a Man’s personality.

Not how “Suburbia” or “Urban” his outer appearance projects when parading down the street.

    Cheers!
