You know there is only four days left before christmas, i see people scrambiling around to find certian presents that their children want regardless of how much money it costs. Our economy is falling apart and we are worrying about christmas presents.

To me, i feel christmas is really overrated. Christmas is "Christ" birthday and that is what we should be celebrating. If anyone should be recieving presents it should be him.

I dont know what happened to the old fashion christmas where familys get together, have a big dinner and just spend time with eachother and be thankful for what you have.

I guess it is just crazy i see all the parents going wild, be stressed and spoiling the children instead of seeing what christmas really means.

I am a parent and my son is appreciative for what he has not what he wants.

As for Christmas...it's basically so commercialized now that the meaning people want to put behind the holiday is lost. Everyone is so materialistic and thinking they're doing good by giving gifts, but if you really want to give for Christmas do it at a shelter, or buy presents for the Salvation Army. That's giving. Not buying an 8 year old an iPod he's going to lose on the bus or get stolen at school.

I haven't been able to buy Christmas presents in 6 years. So honestly it just generally feels like another day in December for me most years. This year is special, though.

I think the scripted buying of meaningless presents is overrated, but I love the holidays, I love spending time with family and the most precious gift I can get is time with them. Love it!:smt111

I guess you can call me a grinch because I hate this time of year. Unlike everyone else, I don't associate christmas with joy, peace on earth, etc. To me christmas = debt, disengenuous people, the same tired ass songs that I was tired of hearing even as a kid, ungrateful kids and people trying to force their religious beliefs on others.

Oh how I dread this time of year.

I am sorry if you feel i was forcing religious beliefs on you.. That was not my intention i was just voicing my beliefs. I agree everyone has their own beliefs and i respect that. :smt002

I get a month off from school, and I get to see my cousin and my aunt. Fuck a present and a tree. And the whole christ thing, HA! To me, Christmas is my cuz's birthday, not christ's birthday.

My niece is spoiled, but even so, yesterday she was walking through the house trying to wrap her own toys for other kids for Christmas. I feel she gets the jist. Regardless of the hype, I am thankful to be alive and well, able to enjoy these moments with my family. I am very fortunate.

Christmas is one of the few times a year I meet my brother, and not even always then, since he often works shift at the ER on christmas.
So he'll be the one doing the good deeds on christmas.

I like it in a way, to hang out with my parents and have a good dinner and you know, celebrate that we have eachother. And I admit, I'm a sucker for presents. And a sucker for making christmas rhymes. And a sucker for giving away silly stuff. And all the rest.

But the stress BEFORE christmas.. man. i could have killed to get away from that.
Anyway, the rest of the year everyone is always busy, so it's nice to get together and focus on eachother for a couple of days, being a family.

Christmas is okay with me. I like to give gifts rather than receive them now. It's different from when you're a kid. All you cared about was getting the latest and best toys. I like it more now. It's good to give presents. I just wish I had more to give. The money thing is hurting me. But I still do what I can :)

I love Christmas, for a lot of reasons, but I do think it's over-rated and far to commercialized, my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. I feel the store and society really overlook it to easy.

I love getting together with family, I love giving gifts, and I really love seeing the look on someones face when I give them something they really wanted, or needed.

I really don't care if I get anything or not, my kids usually give me something very in-expensive, and I treasure those things because I know they really enjoy doing it. Doesn't matter what it is.

Christmas is cool, but I don't have much to give.

    Happy Holidays!

I think there are often a lot of pressures with the holidays. People often get caught up in all sorts of dysfunctional family yuck.

Once upon a time I did the supermom routine and stretched myself waaaay too thin with charities, family, friends, church, etc. I don't do that any more. Now it's much more about what we really want to do rather than what we *should* do.

I love seeing my children's faces...they are just so excited about EVERYTHING right now. I think having little ones in the house makes it extra special for everyone. My older kids are much more interested simply because the little ones get so jazzed.

I love finding just the right special gift for someone. It's about the thought and the effort that goes into it ...not the price.

And while I really love finding/making something special for those who are special in my life...I must admit I'm loving having all the handmade decorations around that my kindergartner gave me this year!
