    Looks like I'm a racist

DH says I'm a bit of a radical...I think that if this was another time..I'd be the easiest to become a racist or hardcore black militant.

    Your Result
Your data suggest a strong automatic preference for African American compared to European American.

  7. lol me too!

after taking the test i feel like black=good now lol

Same result with me ... Slight automatic preference for African American compared to European American.

But that test is just a test of hand eye coordination nothing more.

That's pretty much all it is. It's not like it means that a person hates black and loves whites or vice-versa

Hm, it's more than hand eye I believe.

It was developed after extensive research and is generally acknowledged in serious academia I think.

Even so, it's not necessary to worry about your result I don't think.

Or maybe.. it just comes out according to who your'e currently bangin ;)

THanks for posting Swazi, good thread.

Ok, I did the test in swedish, so Im not sure what my result was in english..
but it was "Liten eller ingen automatisk preferens mellan Vita och Svarta människor." in swedish, lol..
Little to no automatic preference between white and black people... something like that. ^_^.

While I am not sure how significant this test is, I do think its a little more than hand-eye coordination. The test is based on research conducted by Harvard university and some other universities..

Ok, but the test measures the quickness with which you select the answer and the results are based on that. If the test were just a series of questions without the speed involved in answering that would be a little more accurate I think.

They're going for the "reaction time is impacted by what you're seeing" thing.

You've got words associated with "Good" and "Bad". We already have preconceived notions of what is good and bad, so we'll react quicker when we're supposed to associate something like "happy" with good than if we're trying to associate "happy" with bad.

So it measures how quickly you react to associating pictures of black people with "good" and "bad", and vice versa with white people.

The idea is that if you react quickly to associating black people with "good", then you like black people. If you also react quickly to associating white people with "good" then you are probably receptive to both races.

If you react slowly to one of the races being associated with "good" and then react quickly with the same race being associated with "bad", then it reveals bias.

If you react about the same through out, then you're not really biased nor overly receptive to either race, etc.

It's hoping to measure subconscious impulses and bias when presented with different visual cues. Hand/eye coordination is an important factor, of course, but I tried it fast, and then slow. Still got the same answer. They've got a decent cushion to allow for people with slower reaction times. It's not judging based on reaction time in general, but your reaction time in correlation to the different races being associated with "good" and "bad" to get the results.

    I like the test. It's pretty neat-o.

Right exactly, it measures the speed with which you respond but some people have quicker response / hand eye coordination than others although they may feel the same. Which is why I think its not too accurate.

Like I said, I took it twice. Once fast, and once slow. I still got the same result from both. It's not really measuring your speed in responding, but paying more attention to variances in speed. If one's speed is pretty steady throughout, and then deviates when confronted with a different topic, then goes back to steady, it'll show something.

That's why they change it up. To see if your reaction time changes when different associations are made.

No I understand that, I was just saying that two people's response will vary though they may feel the same way. One person's response varies from question to question so that lag time is effects the result though that person's feelings may be the same.

I think I just confused myself - LOL

Well the thing is, even though it may vary question to question..there will likely be patterns. If its all varied, then those are the people who get the ambiguous "You have no preference" answers.

But the ones that aren't varied, the ones with blatant patterns...now those are the ones that reveal the information the test is trying to look for.

No test is going to be 100% correct, but I think the idea behind this one is quite interesting and the test itself is good at finding subtle bias/preference people may not realize they have.
