I am one as well. I originally wanted to be a Disney animator when I was younger but I eventually went a different direction. I still like to doodle in my notebooks from time to time and I sometimes surprise my friends with impromptu sketching whenever we hang out. I also have taught myself to play electric guitar, not a talent per se, since I know people way more talented than I could ever be, but a hobby that I enjoy. I play alot of Pop and Alternative tunes since they are not too complicated.

I'm working on a bachelor's in Animation. I wanna work for Pixar. Which is basically Disney's bitch, so sorta the same thing!

That's awesome. I always wonder where I would be today if I followed through with going to art school. I did take a non-art major drawing class at my college's art school, and I was doing real well. Unfortunately I had to drop it due to the high cost of supplies and the terribly early schedule which didn't bode well for me as a commuter student. Some of the art majors really put me to shame with their works, though. I always thought I was good but they were some very talented people.

Talent is only part of it, darling. Being a successful artist, in my opinion (and I'm not yet, so I could be wrong!) is about 60 percent talent, 40 percent practice and determination. Art is my life, and I don't say that lightly. I mean if I woke up tomorrow unable to use my hands I don't think I could live anymore, I'd feel so...useless. My life would feel pointless.

Don't let the talent of others make you feel insubstantial. There are many amazing artists at my school (The Art Institute of Houston)...some much, much better than me. Does it make my work any less important? I don't think so. Art isn't about being the best, it's mostly about doing you, and hoping others are receptive about it. My real dream isn't being an animator...honestly I'd love to make a living off my paintings. Animation is more of my safe job. I just want to make art for a living. I'd like to make an impact on the world. But if I can't, if my voice is never heard, I would be quite happy just making cartoons or movies. It's not going to stop me from painting what I feel, and it's certainly not going to stop me from trying to get my voice heard.

Just do what you love. Don't let other people dictate what you do with your life. If you want to make cartoons, do it. You don't have to have a degree. It takes a lot of practice (my animations mostly suck *L*) but it can be done.

    Try this:

    http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml

Make a walk cycle. Take a sketchbook, notebook, whatever, and draw stick figures in the poses you see in this tutorial on the bottom corner of each page. Then flip through it. It'll make you feel good. My first successful walk cycle filled me with such pride! A walk cycle is one of the hardest things to master, and I'm far from making it perfect yet, but I can do it, and that's the important thing. I agonized over it for weeks and ended up turning mine in well over a week late, but I did it!

Honestly, you could still get hired at Disney if you practice enough. All the information you need is on the internet. There are so many tutorials out there teaching you everything you need to know to animate...for free! A degree helps out immensely, but in the end, in the art world, all it is is a piece of paper. It'll get you more attention, but that's it. All the studios care about is that you know how to do what you need to.

You don't even have to animate! You could do storyboards, concept art, backgrounds...hell you could even write scripts or do the timing sheets (those things are so annoying *L* Too many numbers for my taste!).

At least draw. It's fun. :) Doesn't matter if you get paid for it. I've been an unpaid starving artist since I was a teenager, and it hasn't stopped me yet!

I don't think I have any. I used to be able to draw extremely well. Or so I thought. Then one person told me I wasn't as good as them. I'm overly sensitive so I decided to never draw again. I used to love to sing. Then my oldest asshole brother no one likes said, "What happened? You used to be able to sing when you were a kid." So I never sang again in front of anyone. I used to love to write poems and thought I was good at it. But I'm not when it comes to any other subject besides how I feel about my significant other. So I don't know if that is really a talent. I don't think I have any. I like to make jewelry. But I wouldn't call it a special talent. It's quite easy to do. Just more of a hobby for me, when I have money to buy stuff to do it. Is being faithful a talent? I've been with one man for 9 years and haven't cheated once! I used to think I was a good listener, then my man told me, "You never listen." LoL. I think I have a talent for caring about people. Is compassion a talent? But I don't do it all the time. Sometimes I get bit by the apathy bug. I can't really say what my talents are :smt102. I change a lot, get bored easily, and lose interest in things. So nothing's really ever stuck with me, that I think could be considered a talent...

Oh! For a physical talent, I've never seen anyone else be able to do is I can bend the fingertip of my left index (can't do it on the right side) flat (forward).

    here we go:

*I'd say that language is my main skill. I'm a talented writer, both poetry and prose. Still it's my goal in life to be able to live from that.

*I'm a talented artist, when it comes to paintings and works in mixed technique, I just don't have the time for it anymore, now that I'm focusing on writing and on graphic design. I'm a talented photographer as well, I'm good at seeing colors and lines and capturing feelings. I have a nack of putting tension in the pictures to create momentum or voids. Negative space is my friend and so on.

    *I'm good on stage.
    *I'm good at speaches.
    *I'm good at rhetorics.

    *I'm a master of procrastination. ^^

Yup, but I've never done it publicly yet, because I get so nervous. When I write poetry it's usually very personal, same thing with my songs, so it's hard for me to perform material I wrote myself. If I bomb singing someone else's song it's one thing. I'll feel bad, but it'll be ok. But if I bomb singing/speaking my own words, or people react negatively to it...it -will- hurt my feelings, and I know this, so I get very reserved about sharing my work. *L*

That one's not personal, just me being pissed at America. *L*

I can wiggle my ears, but the left is far more responsive than the right! :) haha.

I have an uncanny sense of direction. Put me anywhere, and I will find where I need to go. I never get lost, and if I do, I usually still end up where I want, just taking a little longer to get there.

I can also turn my hand to just about anything crafty or physical. I can build things, sew, cook, knit, paint, work on electrics...anything like that, and whatever it is, usually comes out ok to good. I don't know if it's a skill, but it sure makes me happy.

Well, I play guitar and piano, but I have a hard time considering repeating licks from someone elses song over and over and over and over until I can finally manage to play it a talent. To me it's more an exercise in patience and too much spare time, with a healthy dash of dedication sprinkled in for good measure. When I finally write a song that I'm happy with I may reconsider.
