I used to be into Korn and Limp Bizkit. I saw LB with Sevendust in '98 right before they blew up and became really big. Old Korn is awsome to listen to. I remember seeing Adema open up for Mushroomhead (A band from my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio) in 2001. I don't remember too much from their set though
I agree. That's a good song. They were great band. I listen to my Nirvana all the time. "About a Girl" is one of my favorite songs of theirs. I'll miss them dudes.
There was a great Bluegrass Metallica tribute album had a while back. You've never lived until you've heard Ride the Lightning done on banjos hahaha. http://www.amazon.com/Fade-Bluegrass-Tribute-Metallica/dp/B0000CC866
Though speaking of rock, I've been listening to a little more lately for some reason (did a painting to a slipknot song the other day actually) This song has been getting stuck in my head like crazy. I looooove Corey Taylor omg. Apocalyptica is the shit, too. I can't post it for some reason, but here's the link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bhFqPHl4O-U Apocalyptica did Metallica songs on cellos. Beautiful stuff Classical music you can headbang to. And speaking of cellos, can't forget Rasputina And for awesome gothic music Switchblade Symphony ...like I said, I listen to everything Proof in that I went from Metallica, to bluegrass, to cello music, to gothic music hahahaha
Bluegrass is a lovely genre with a horrible stigma associated with it. Open minds are the best ones!!!
Oh I know it is. Don't get me wrong DH. I never thought bluegrass was bad music or anything like that. I just never heard a metal song being done in bluegrass. I respect all forms of music, even the ones that I don't follow much
They've done Ozzy, Led Zeppelin, and others, too And I wasn't specifically talking about you, just the general idea about bluegrass. People give me strange looks when I mention I listen to bluegrass as well. I can't entirely escape it. It's part of my culture, ya know? I grew up only ever hearing bluegrass gospel performers in concerts around town. I just like music. Whatever the instruments (or lack thereof) creating it, music is a beautiful thing that should be appreciated.
They did those guys too? I gotta hear that I understand where you're coming from. Appalachia is the home of bluegrass. It would have been weird if you didn't follow it at all It's like me. I'm from the Mississippi Delta and blues and gospel is king down there. I'm actually related to BB King. My family all love blues and gospel. I don't follow it much, but I know the musicians and a few songs I like Everyone loves some kind of music
Wow. I remember in Jr. High, they had a bluegrass band come in, and I really enjoyed the music. I haven't listened to it since then, but I remember liking it.
I find the music fascinating. The mandolin, which is used heavily in bluegrass music, almost as much as the banjo, is one of my favorite instruments to hear. Along with the violin (fiddle!), which is one of my other favorites. So it's kinda hard for me to not like bluegrass. It's great! Banjo players are so talented. They play so fast!
That was cool! I really enjoyed it . I never heard "Stairway to Heaven" or "Crazy Train" played like that.
I love music. I listen to different genres depending on what I am doing - classical to study to, Aretha Franklin style gospel - to be inspired, dance - to shake my booty when I clean (ahahaha, I have no life while in school), Welcome to the Jungle in particular when I feel mega-aggressive, and I run to anything fast paced. I have learned that the song "Staying Alive" has the perfect tempo to teach CPR with, so I will do that in my next courses. Apparently so does "Another One Bites the Dust" but that may not be as inspiring, lol. I am relearning the tenor sax and only play blues on it, and am learning the guitar and prefer to play blues and latin styles of music. I love almost all music.
For all my Scandinavian people, straight from Sweeden, it's Meshuggah with "Rational Gaze". It's easier to say what I won't listen to: twangy country, hard core rap, and I'm not a big fan of techno I go through phases with everything else. Depends on what's going on in my life and my moods. Right now in the car I have (which changes daily) MJB, Tool, Santana, Aretha, Buck Cherry...hmmm I'm forgetting one. But yah a bit on the eclectic side. I grew up around the radio biz, concerts, etc.
