They're pretty close actually. It's been a dream for many years now to make Europe a whole country.

Africa was also in consideration of becoming "one" unity.

Maybe we should applaud that clever family for their clairvoyantness , in case Africa and and Europe do in fact become countries.

But realistically, its pretty clear that these people had NO frickin clue in the world what a fucking country is......haha....funny stuff

 

There are many ppl working on Europe becoming a federation.

 

Actually (thanks to my African friend) African was a country prior to colononization. Thieves...err greedy business men came in with their advanced weapons and money etc. bribed the locals and enslaved people. they then proceeded to break up the then country Africa into smaller land masses, making it a continent. Research Ethiopia and king Haile Selassie, you'll get the real history of that beautiful diverse continent that was once a country.

 

absolutely correct, during the Ottoman empire, the conquest of Africa was in full effect. Northern Africa was also considered southern Africa and vice versa, It was done so to coincide with the flow of the Nile.

That's exactly what I was thinking, there's loads of idiotic white people out there, as well as idiotic asians etc... To make a generalisation about a race based on 4 or 5 people is a bit stupid. Regardless, they are kinda thick, I'd be saying that no matter what race they were.

In my africa (where im from), we were required to know the ATLAS OFF BY HEART (continent, country, province, capital city, population density, land area in km2) in the third grade. When something as simplistic as geography is cemented in your mind at that age, its gonna stay with you for life....

We too had to memorize the atlas btw. One continent at a time until we knew the whole world... Only the countries, and capital cities though. But for the Scandinavian countries we had to learn additional stuff, like the largest cities/towns, provinces, lakes, rivers, mountains etc...It was around 3rd grade :smt045

thast exactly what we did. We even had to know all the cloud types and their names. We had to comprehend topographic data, the principles of meteorology, and basic environmental sceince.

Things like knowing which country is where on the map was never a question posed in a test; because that would be too easy.

anyways...This is a test most 3rd graders in my school back then would score 140 in....

We also had to learn what you mention. In addition we had geology,which meant we had to learn about the different earth layers, rock types, different mountain formations and how they're created, volcanoes and earthquakes, the movement of the continental plates, and the different geological periods in earth's history.

Unlike you, we didn't have all that in 3rd grade though. Here 3rd grade only lasts for a year...

Much of what we eventually learned in geography would be much too complex for a 8/9 year old to understand (like meteorology). Around 3rd/4th grade we mainly focused on memorizing capitals/countries. It was rather dull, but the teacher implemented it into social science and history classes, so we also learned a little bit about each of the countries culture/history.

Geography is a very small course here, perhaps it's more important where you grew up. It's only 2-3h a week here. 3rd grade mainly focus on learning multiplication and division, as well as further improving the children's skills in reading and spelling.
