I see where you're getting at DH. After all, this is www.whitewomenblackmen.com. We're all here because we have dated/are dating/want to date white women or black men. It's not a stretch to think those threads would come up

And you're right. Environment and culture play a much bigger part in one's upbringing than race does or ever did

Well, I can understand there being questions, because honestly before I moved to Houston I'd had such little contact with people who weren't white I was ignorant of a lot of things. Thankfully I've always been smart enough to realize that people are people regardless of skin color, but I seriously did have a lot of questions about black people when I moved to Houston. I was so embarrassed because I felt so...stupid, but thankfully I've had some great friends over the past year who didn't mind answering my questions and didn't judge me for being ignorant, because my ignorance didn't cause me to make assumptions...it just made me curious. Mostly I was just curious as to how different we really are, more so physically than mentally. My friend Toya cracked me up one day at my old job, because I'd asked her something (I think it was dealing with weaves. She'd made a comment about it and I honestly didn't know what a weave was at the time, so I timidly asked) and she told me "Girl, if you ever want to ask questions about black people, feel free to ask me! I'll teach you all about us!"

So I can get how some people might want to know certain things, but those threads get on my nerves because it seems more like they're pointing toward some general way of thinking for people of an entire race, and that, as we've pointed out, doesn't happen.

So she was like you "tour guide" to black people then :smt033 lol
I think we all have to understand that when someone who not familiar with things asks about them, we don't act condescending towards the person. They're not trying to make fun of you. They honestly want to know

I agree. We are on the same page, DH :smt023

It occurred to me that there is now a good balance of women and men on the board, which makes it such a fun place to be. There was a time when the forum was pretty much male-dominated... the entire forum was like a big Men's Locker Room. Women got talked down to and wouldn't post much.

Those days are over! There are a lot of outspoken women here now. Keep reppin', ladies!:smt061

Looking forward to the days when there are more female than males posting.

    I think it's cool.

It's nice to be able to talk about stuff like hip hop without my opinion being discounted because I'm just some white girl. Thats put me off so many hip hop forums.

The place is full of really nice people from worldwide. It's cool. I don't think there's anyone on here I don't like. Everyone is pretty sound which is cool. All the people are from different walks of life which helps mix things up a bit.

It's full of sexy men too which is good, oh and sexy ladies :smt007
