As a man who has been looking forward to having kids and all the responsibilities that come with fatherhood, this is really good to know.

I had a really hard time with my mother growing up and I don't think I could ever bring myself to make such a generalizing statement toward mothers. :toimonster:

Even though I don't think my dad did a good job with the two famillies he had, I don't hate him. I don't *truly* hate anyone. I just don't have any respect for him. He made out like he was always such a moral person but he's just a little boy.

There are some amazing dads out there! A lot are better than the mothers. Big up to the dads out there taking responsibillity :D.

Britty I'm a twin too :D Sorry to Dex, DH & Brit with your experiences too. Glad to know you love your mamma Dex, I love a guy who loves his mother. It's good that you respect what she's done too. As a kid I didn't appreciate my mum and everything she did for me, now I do though. Sorry about your dad, I've always wondered would I actually care if my dad died, I hope I do but it wouldn't really bother me to be honest I don't think.

I wish that Jacob had a decent dad, well his dad tries, well no... his dads mother tries. I don't cause drama over it and I wont go telling Jake how shit his dad is. I hope they get closer. I don't talk to him at all because he's just shit, just his dads mother and she's nice. Would be nice for him to have a male role model but it's not the end of the world.

As rubbish as the weather is up here in the land of kilts it never really snows, just rains and is really cold.
Sadly, my much anticipated snow has decided to turn to slush. Nevermind.

Yeah I really want a white Christmas! I can't remember a white Christmas. Usually it gets really snowy here around January/February :( I don't want snow then... I want it in a month! Lol. Then again, last year I had kids throwing snowballs at my windows. I so wanted to chase them/shout at them but I'd look like a psycho.

Mine hasn't done heroin yet, I don't think, but he's done everything else. Coke, crack, meth, prescription pills, etc, etc, etc ad nauseum. He's also an abusive alcoholic who sold pot for nearly 25 years, and only stopped when the DEA started bustin' people in my town. I dunno if he started again now or not. I've spoken to him about 3 times on the phone since I moved out here last August, and otherwise I just don't talk to him.

I don't know why he's still alive. He's had over 10 car accidents due to driving drunk, he's gotten in countless fights at bars. The motherfucker even put a loaded gun to his head and pulled the trigger once, but the gun misfired.

Honestly I think it's karma. He's been slowly dying for the past 5 years at least, maybe longer, and he's got a long way and a lot more pain to go through before the end. heh. He's the main reason I believe in karma!

Wow. That's unbelievable. I can imagine it being pretty hard to grow up around that.
It could be karma DH. Some people don't wanna see the signals to change, like my dad. He made excuses for everything that he did wrong. He didn't see (or didn't wanna see) what he was doing to his family. All his shit ended up biting him in the ass in the end. Sad

Unbelievable? I'm totally going to send you something on myspace now.

You've never really lived til you see your dad choking your mom with a phone cord while she's on the phone with 911...realizing the cops don't give a fuck and aren't going to show up. He's the reason I always promised myself if I'm ever lucky enough to have kids I won't make them put up with a fucked up dad/bad relationship between the parents. Divorce can be hard on kids, but staying together can be harder on them, ya know? My mom always thought she was taking the high road and doing what god would want by staying with him, because according to her beliefs once you're married you're married forever...and also cause I think she's been in denial about it from the get go.

It's been a fucked up ride, lemme tell ya. One of these days my autobiography is going to get me on Oprah!

*rme* I honestly don't believe fathers are really overrated. I know there are plenty of good dads out there. It was moreso a personal statement, not a generalization. Like someone who's freshly single saying "relationships are overrated anyway". It's not true, but at the moment in their personal existence the statement makes sense to them.

Don't take it personal, please. It was not my intention.

Wow. My parents had their fights (just verbal; I don't remember anything physical), but I couldn't imagine my dad doin that to my mom. My mom would have probably shot him if he tried. I'm glad you turned out okay

You're correct. There's no need to stick around in that kind of relationship. The kids aren't being done any kind of service. It just messes them up

The cops in West Virginia are the reason I don't trust people with a badge very easily. I'd love to be able to give the po's the benefit of a doubt, but those fucks back home really soured my view of the men in blue. I'm happy when I find cops that actually protect people as they should, but I don't think I'll ever be able to trust a cop. The ones back home were all in the pockets of the drug dealers. They knew my dad, and bought weed from him, and liked him, so they let him "handle his own family business".

If I ever get to have kids I'm going to be a great mom :) I know it.

Cause I'd be like yours and shoot a motherfucker who tried to hurt me and my kids :D I guess I can at least thank my dad for teaching me not to take shit from no one.

Lol to the psycho thing i think its a sign of maturity or starting to get old when kids and teenagers start to annoy you with there exsploits, only last weekend i gave a lecture to a group of kids about kicking there football around my car told them to take it over the nature reserve, as they were walking away i started to feel this overwhelming sense of being old it was awful lol.
Ps if we really keep our finger crossed you actually may see a white christmas, oh and i actually did go to karaoke for couple of hours tonight but i didnt sing as someone had already done my favourite and i dont like to repeat lol, plus my voice wasnt feeling to hot tonight so i would've had to have been better than my predecessor but couldn't hit it tonight lol.
