Hello! I'm in good shape for now but i think i'm gaining some weight from all the stress of med school. What should i do to keep it off? There's no gym in my university. Just a basketball court and swimming pools. Does the Subway diet really work? What should I do? I go swimming twice a week also.

Stop fretting you sound like your doing all you can at the moment, but i will offer a lil bit advice in my exstremely slim days i used to drink water before everymeal its simple but it works.

Why are you agonising over weight that your not sure youve even gained, being in med school is surely enough to worry about.

I'm guessing diet and exercise. Of course, how effective it is is based on genetics. Some people can exercise more than others and still not keep the weight off.

Right you havent worked out since August but you go swimming twice a week? and as a Med student you dont overly eat a lot off crap.

Sounds a bit more like Depression to me keep an eye on yourself make sure that stress is not taking over ?

If you dont manage to get it sorted dont worry to much as women like there men a little Thicke you could compensate with sexual excercise lol ;)

From what I hear, swimming is one of the best exercises you can do. It works your entire body - muscles, cardio and isn't hard on your joints. Keep up the swimming. You know it works. Look at how thin and in shape Michael Phelps is, and he eats how many calories a day when he's in training??

    Swimming should do the trick!

i only swim twice a week and i should be doing it everyday. But the pools are always crowded. and the two basketball courts are filled up every day. I wake up 5-6:30am and go to sleep around 11:30ish at night. When i have free time, the courts and pool are already taken.

My university doesn't have all the fancy things like universities in the U.S.A. They want to cut costs for student tutition. So they had to get rid of the sports teams and so on. I only pay 1/3 of what i would pay in the U.S. But most of my money is going to tutition.

You don't need to be working out every day to stay healthy.

You just have to fit in workouts whenever you can. Like they say, if you can just fit in three 10 minute walks (or any type of working out) a day, you're better off than doing nothing. Just don't eat too much fast food, pizza, and lay off the sugary drinks most of the time, and fit in as much working out time as you can during the day, you should be fine. You'll be doing more than most of the rest of the country at this point. LOL.

It's all in getting yourself moving. Just move - swim, walk, jog, playing basketball, sit-ups, push-ups, jumping rope, sex....anything that gets your blood pumping. Even if you have to break it up during the day, due to your schedule.

But, really, swimming twice a week is good. Add some walks or something on other days, and you should be good!

I'm no personal trainer though. :-D
