In the past week the news in the UK has been flooded with criticism of the British Social Services. Mainly because of the case of Baby P. This case has been upsetting me all week. It's horribly tragic.

If you're not familliar with the story then read below. It's so tragic that this has happened AGAIN after "lessons were learned" after what happened to Victoria Climbie back in 2000 in the exact same borough of London.

The Sun in particular has been vocal against the social workers involved and doctors, demanding they resign/be sacked a.s.a.p. I can't help but agree. How did a doctor and social workers after 60 visits not notice that the little 17 month old boy was being tortured!? Days before he died a doctor failed to notice the boy was paralysed and suffered a broken back and ribs. Absolutely shocking.

Then, if that wasn't bad enough I opened the newspaper to discover a 2 boys ages three months and two years were stabbed to death by their mother. This family were involved with social services, again, yet nothing was done. Children keep being murdered by their parents, they're continuing to be tortured. It's disgusting.

Did anyone in the UK watch "Poor Kid, Rich Kid"? It was interesting albeit predictible, they had 2 teenage girls who live at different ends of one street in London. One filthy rich and one in poverty and noticed the difference between the two. The rich girl was a cow, in the nicest sense on the word. Her family were racist and plain nasty. The poor girl was so nice, she had it so hard and her mother was a waste of space so she organised and cared for her young brother. The little boy, aged 5, slept on a flea ridden carpet, couldn't talk properly and wasn't fully potty trained. Lazy parents bother me. Now I know some 5 year olds are slow but this woman just sat with no teeth and let her daughter do everything.

Back on topic though - we really need more "lessons to be learned" in the UK. It seems children are dying everyday when the social services could be taking them into care. I understand it's a hard job and unrewarding in the sense that when they do save a child it doesn't make the papers and no one cares, it's just when this happens people do pay attention.

It isn't just the social services and health services that failed these children -- it was the community and society, if you know a child is being beaten, which I'm sure many knew, then report it to the police. Everyone thinks this is someone elses problem. It's not, it's our problem. Ignorance is NOT bliss. We need to do something to prevent these tragedies from happening again. Whether a community reaching out to save Baby P would have made a difference in the outcome isn't certain but we need to do all we can.

This is a messy post I'm just so distraught about "Baby P" in particular. Makes me sick.

    MURDERED TOTS CASE-http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7728323.stm

If you read the Baby P case -- just so you know, they weren't even charged with murder but "causing the death" of him. They'll get 14 yrs max which means they'll be out in half of that time to likely have more children. Sick.

Broken back and ribs? The fuck? Plain laziness right there not doing shit about it.. And why should a should a person care if their saving of a child isn't honored in a paper That's not their job. Lazy mufuckas. That's real sad. And the thing I don't gat, is how crazy ass parents kill their kids because "I had been instructed by thou holiness of the lord" or some other bullshit. At least parents in Americasay that god told them to kill their children. Still a bunch of sick fucks.

The mother of "Baby P" was apparently a fat slob obsessed with hardcore porn and chatrooms and the kids step dad was obsessed with nazism.
There was like 6/7 kids living in a tiny house. There was a peadophile living there too - 32 yr old going out with a 14 year old.

Kid didn't really stand a chance.

Shit involving children makes me so angry - kid was only 1, didn't stand a chance.

It's these mothers that put their boyfriend before their children. It really annoys me.

I hate the God sacrifice shit too, I watched a whole show about it, thing is, those parents kill the kids but why not just kill themselves. Idiots, maybe they really are mentally unstable but in that case they shouldn't be watchin the kids.

These people who torture/watch while their kid is tortured are kinda worse, they didn't just "snap", they systematically abuse their kids over a long period of time.

You're right though, it's just plain damn laziness. They just sit about all day drinking tea and don't seem to care. The doctor, and I use that term loosely, is still practising medicine today - after failing to notice all the problems wrong with that poor 1 year old kid.

    Damn, I'm so emotional :(

The same thing happens in the states with social service agencies turning a blind eye to evidence of physical and/or sexual abuse.

A recent example of this is a Mormon sect in Texas that married female minors to middle-aged men. The authorities frequently don't descend until there is a years long pattern of abuse.

Don't feel bad, Britain is a relatively well-functioning society and the examples you provided are certainly outliers. Think of the many societies where child physical and sexual abuse occurs with impunity.

Shit - this stuff makes me so sad and so angry. And, if it happened once and then we learned...then, it's not ok, but at least its understandable. But when the same thing happens again and again, that just makes me so mad.

The person I was staying with in Colorado was a detective on child crimes, and while I was there, she had some horrific stories. Sadly, in the most recent case, it was a bm and ww, and he somehow managed to break over 30 bones in the body of his 4 week old baby girl. And the mother is defending him.

According to the person I was staying with - there is a problem in the IR community there. Sad.

The thing that makes me most sad is that there are so many people in the world who can't have children, and who would give that child everything....and, the parents just do nothing and screw the child up forever.

How can there be so much good and so much bad in the world? How can you look into the eyes of your child and not want them to be amazing...and not care!!?! It is outside of my understanding. If I found that child on the street, I would care for it as my own...and yet, this is their flesh and blood?

Last picture of him alive - you can see the chocolate she smeared on his face to conceal wounds and scars.

Here's her netlog or w/e profile, man I am obsessed with this case, not in a good way. It's horrific. I can't believe how stupid and repulsive that woman is.
